Mission: Mediation Services of Putnam County, Inc. works to provide services for the peaceful resolution of disputes/disagreements and the reduction of cases in courts.
Programs: Victim-offender plus some civil, community & visitation. Mediation helps youth/adults resolve their conflicts peacefully with help from impartial people. CLIENT age range 8-85. Bi-lingual materials developed for Spanish speaking clients-interpreter as needed. Mediation is cost effective, safe, & non-adversarial. Research shows it INCREASES voice for victims, accountability for offenders, contract fulfillment, & participant satisfaction & DECREASES the number of cases in our court systems, repeat offenses, fear, & violence. NEEDS/SERVICE GOALS included in budget are *establish services on local university campus, *hire/train staff, *recruit/train volunteers, & *improve access for juveniles, especially from Overton, by (1) implementing court intake services in Overton juvenile court & (2) developing a “mediation will travel” kit to provide services at other sites.
