Mission: Our mission is to develop educational programs for all ages and disseminate information in prepared programs/guest lecturers; to establisn and maintain exhibits in keeping with the theme of local history and development; to restore significantly historic buildings; to collect and preserve material to establish or illustrate the history of Mechanicsburg and provide for its accessibility for members of the community and surrounding area. Our purpose is to store and maintain in our archive collections of historic artifacts, photos, Indian relics, and other historic articles. We have preserved and promoted the unique history of Mechanicsburg through educational programs, gallery exhibits, and presentations in area schools. We also maintain and restore historic structures belonging to the Cumberland Valley Rail Road and the oldest public building in Mechanicsburg.

Once a month the Mechanicsburg Museum hosts a "Lunch & Learn" on a Wednesday afternoon and a "Sunday at Museum Square" lecture series. They have had some really interesting guest speakers on a variety of subjects. This month (April) their "Sunday" guest speaker will talk about being a teenager in Germany during WWII. I'm looking forward to this event.
