Programs: Presently we are serving approximately 1,500 homebound, disabled and elderly people each day throughout Greenville County, which includes the communities of Simpsonville, Fountain Inn, Fork Shoals, Travelers Rest, Piedmont, Maudlin, Ware Place and Cedar Shoals. In 1999 we served 352,771 meals and with a growing elderly population, we expect to serve over 360,000 in 2000.Meal on Wheels of Greenville is meeting many of the needs of the homebound throughout Greenville County. For more than 30 years, the community has come to regard this program as a channel for providing goods and services to those in greatest need. As a part of their daily routine, the volunteers distribute additional food, clothing, household items, reading material, and health aids. These caring volunteers meet many physical needs such as heat assistance, transportation, and minor home repairs. For many clients, the volunteer is the only contact they have with the outside world.
Meals on Wheels enhances the quality of life of homebound individuals by providing nutritious meals, personal contact and related services.
