The maryland/israel development center is a non-profit membership organization that promotes trade and investment between maryland and israeli companies. Midc provides educational programs about the economies of the state of maryland and israel.
The midc has an alliance with other organizations with the mission of helping create jobs in both maryland and israeli communities by promoting bi-lateral trade and investment. The midc has a membership program to provide maryland companies with access to israeli firms who wish to interact through economic, scientific and /or technological collaboration.
the midc organizes a series of events each year about israel's economy and high tech business development. The midc regularly attracts over 200 people to its annual showcase of maryland/israel trade. Its smaller business briefings often attract 50 or more people to learn about specific israeli businesses or technologies.
hanan sibel business leadership award ceremony & bi-annual dinner the midc named its business leadership award after midc founding chairman hanan sibel, a prominent business, civic and jewish community leader in maryland. This year's award recipient was abba david poliakoff.
the midc represents the u. S. -israel binational industrial research & development foundation in maryland. The foundation provides up to $1 million for joint r&d projects conducted by u. S. Israel company teams. The midc receives a success fee to put maryland-israel company projects together.
