Location: 252 Bryant Avenue White Plains NY 10605 USA
Founded in 1983 and incorporated in 1993, The LOFT provides a safe gathering place for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and supportive community of New York''s Lower Hudson Valley. The LOFT facilitates a wide range of educational, health, social service, and recreational programs, and advocates for improved services for our community. We provide a home for the birth, nurture and celebration of our local LGBT organizations; care for members of the community; education to the public and our community; and empower these individuals to achieve their potential. The LOFT is the only community center serving lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the lower Hudson Valley of New York. Each month, we serve almost 4,000 people who receive our newsletter, come to The LOFT for support groups, call our Help Line, access our web site, participate in social activities, and attend educational and recreational programs. Because many LGBT people feel isolated in their suburban and rural towns, The LOFT provides a sense of community and connection in these people. In addition, we advocate for systemic and governmental changes to ensure that LGBT people have access to services and legal protections they need.
Programs: The LOFT's programs include a 20-something group for young adults, a senior program for LGBT people 55 and over, peer support groups for gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people, coming out groups for men, women, Community Newsletter, Gaymes Nights/Movie Nights, health and educational programs, a Helpline, a Lending Library, LOFTKids (a group for LGBT people with or who want children), social events--such as dances, boat rides, craft fairs, coffeehouses, traveling supper clubs and potlucks, The LOFT Benefit Bowling League, web site, and gala events.National and regional groups that meet at The LOFT include LGBT AA and Al-Anon meetings, Hudson Valley Gay Lesbian Straight and Westchester Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG).The LOFT also offers meeting space for LGBT and supportive mainstream organizations.

The LOFT does a tremendous amount of work to help the LGBT community of the Lower Hudson Valley. The Silver Connections program is critical for those 55 and older in the community to create community, provide people with opportunities, and educate seniors on key topics relevant to their life. Peer support and the Helpline are amazing resources that have benefited thousands of people who've reached out and been part of the groups thru the years.
