The lighthouse is committed to serving and assisting those persons of palm beach county, florida and adjacent areas who are visually impaired or blind in order to maximize and utilize their capabilities to the fullest extent possible in the pursuit of life.
Services are available to have those who are visually impaired or blind and are provided by staff who are certified in the field. Instruction is offered in how to accomplish the many tasks associated with daily living orientation and mobility, and how to use computers along with the latest adaptive technology. Adjustment to blindness counseling is available. A vision doctor is available for evaluations and prescriptions of optical devices and aids and to provide in their proper use. A social worker makes referrels to community resources and the lighthouse maintains and sells products for non-visual adaptions and low vision use.

The determination for accreditation is a rigorous process that involves self-examination by the organization, an on-site peer review to verify processes and procedures by a team of professionals serving in the field and a review of the findings by the NAC Accreditation Committee.
