5100 Sw Macadam Ave No 450 Portland OR 97239 USA

We are an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Leadership training: the organization devotes substantial volunteer time and resources for training members to become civic and community leaders. Through this program, members can attend leadership conferences and training sessions which focus on non-profit and community leadership development.

community programs and community support services: the league serves individuals in need through community projects addressing a broad spectrum of issues in portland and surrounding areas. Many of these programs are initiated by the league and fully supported through league volunteers and funding. League volunteers serve many people - infants, children, women in crisis, and families; in many places - hospitals, camps, schools, and prisons; and in many capacities - mentors, program facilitators, educators and champions of advocacy. During the 2014-15 fiscal year, the league devoted its efforts and resources to its programs: between the lines; healthy habits, healthy kids; stop human trafficking; and volunteer in portland.

I joined Junior League of Portland three years ago after moving here from another state. I really wanted to meet new women friends and JLP was a great place to do it. I've met really great people and been exposed to a variety of volunteer activities in the community. It has been an inspiring way to get to know Portland.

I have am going into my fourth year of volunteering with the Junior League of Portland and could not be more impressed with the content of nonprofit leadership training that I have received through them. I have expanded my skills in social media for nonprofits and fundraising, as well as built experience planning volunteer and fundraising events which truly make an impact throughout Portland. I truly believe in the JLP's mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and impacting our community.

seeing the impact that we have throughout the Portland community. We've made a difference through our Between The Lines program, H3K health fair and bike ride, leadership training opportunities, and Volunteer In Portland (VIP) Day - as well as in many other events.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

expand the awareness of the JLP. As I've talked with people around Portland, most are unaware that who and what the JLP is and does. Then, they are even more surprised that the JLP has been here for 101 years.

After moving halfway across the country, I joined the JLP to meet people and learn my way around Portland. I have gained SO much more. Not only have I accomplished my two original goals, but I've been trained to fully support nonprofits through fund development, event planning, marketing, member relations and so much more! I am also able to volunteer with amazing community organizations that truly impact the Portland community. My experience with the JLP has been nothing but exceptional. If you are a Portland-area woman looking to make an impact and expand your volunteer capabilities, the JLP is the place to be!
