Mission: The joyce ivy foundation (jif) was established to provide exposure, encouragement, counsel, financial assistance and employment support to young women who have the academic, intellectual, and leadership potential to attend the nation's most selective institutions of higher education. Jif has a program of partnering with leading prestigious universities to provide matching grants and other scholarships to the scholars.
Programs: Scholarships were awarded to 80 high-school aged women to attend summer programs at leading institutions of higher education (barnard, brown university, cornell university, emory university, harvard university, johns hopkins university, smith, stanford university, washington university and yale university). Grants included funds for tuition, room, board, travel and sundry expenses. The foundation also helped arrange additional financial aid of approximately 210,000 for its scholars.
jif college admission symposium- over 3 days in may, jif held a symposium involving high school guidance counselors, female high school students and their parents. Jif facilitated sessions on the admissions process, financing, campus visits and coaching your child. Approximately 300 people attended. The event concluded with the honoring of a jif woman of the year and a send-off dinner for the 80 scholars and their parents.
This is a fabulous organization, with an all-volunteer staff and virtually no overhead costs. Virtually all of my donation went directly into the hands of deserving low-income students, and my contribution was matched by the partner Universities that the Joyce Ivy Foundation works with.
I highly recommend you support this great organization, and its worthy mission in the Midwest.
