Johnson County Christmas Bureau is a coordinating non-profit 501(3) (c) agency for holiday assistance to qualified low-income families of Johnson County, Kansas. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, books, and personal care items are made available for client selection by appointment at our annual Holiday Shop held in December. All items are new with the exception of coats and books.
We provide holiday assistance to qualified low-income families at our annual Holiday Shop held over nine days in early December. Our volunteers work year-round to purchase items and solicit donations. From set-up to take-down (a two week period), over 3000 volunteers sort, stock, organize and operate the shop. A representative of each family, assisted by a volunteer, selects from an assortment of groceries, clothes, personal care items, toys, gifts, and books according to family size. All items are new with the exception of gently worn coats and books. In 2009, we served more than 10,300 qualified residents of Johnson County at our annual shop. Unfortunately, over 500 families were denied oru services
