I recently attended the "Ganges Meets the Nile" at the Miramar Cultural Center and once again, I was captivated by this performing arts production. It was a fusion of Indo-Caribbean and Afro-Haitian drumming and dancing. The venue definitely provided the professional environment to showcase an event of this caliber. At a time of such divisiveness, it was so refreshing to see these 2 groups of performers unite to show that we have so much more in common than differences. Congratulations on another fantastic event! Congratulations go out to the performers, technical staff, support staff and the JAI Board. Can't wait to see what 2017 will bring! After watching this fantastic show, it solidified my commitment to JAI's growth and development.
Jayadevi Arts Inc continues to reach new heights in unifying our diverse community and breaking barriers that divide us. Broward Cultural Division Public Art & Design Program is celebrating its 40th Anniversary and in honor of the anniversary, JAI was the only Indo-Caribbean organization invited to showcase public art in Broward County.
As JAI continues to accumulate accolades and recognition (County and State); it is also growing internally and empowering our Indo-Caribbean youth to embrace their culture to help propel them.
Congratulations JAI! Really excited to see the upcoming events!
"Ganges meets the Nile"...a true cultural presentation. Great all around performances from various youth group who entertained us for 3 solid hours. This presentation was very well executed and I can't wait to attend your next show.
Recently, I attended "Ganges meets the Nile" produced by Jayadevi Arts and it was very entertaining. It showcased Indo and Afro Caribbean cultures under one banner. I was excited to see so many youths of different cultural background participated and choreographed so skillfully. Great entertainment; I can't wait to see the next production.
It was a wonderful show. I had an amazing time and as a dancer I felt very loved by all the audience. It was a great experience to see the different cultures come together and put on a great and interesting show. The food was great, the show itself was beautiful and very memorable, and a great group of audience.
I joined Jayadevi Arts about a year ago and has continued my participation since this is the only place that works together with the public to bring together different cultures. In our recent show we had the African Americans and the Indo Caribbean were portrayed in the smashing hit "Ganges meet the Nile." A few salsa steps were also incorporated in one of the dance. As times goes on I am sure our choreographer Ms. Denyse Babolal will bring in more of the different cultures that make up our great nation, "The United States of America."
I performed at the Ganges meets the Mile event Sept 10, 2016 @ Miramar Cultural Center. Coming from Suriname South America it was my first time performing in such a great Stage/Theater. it was a great show!!! Nancy St Leger and Jayadevi dancers were the Best!!! Love the Moko Jumbie dancers they dont have like that in Suriname. Jayadevi keep up the great work and thank you for having me as a Singer in such a high class show.
it was great participating in the United Phagwah Holi Celebration in Florida March 2015. I was amazing to see Florida Indo-Caribbean people uniting in a great festival. It was nice to meet sooo much people from different countries. Thank you for the opportunity to represent our country Suriname in Florida.
Jayadevi is soooo such a great job in promotion Indo-Caribbean culture and arts in America
I have attended several shows hosted by Jayadevi, leaving NYC just to reminisce about he good old days. That's what Jaya devi does. The organization bring back the good old days, the old times. Makes you remember how it was so that we can take our children back to where it all started. Some of the things we had forgotten even. But that's what Jaya devi does. Does not let you forget what our ancestors brought to the Caribbean, for us, for our identity.
Wow Jayadevi was given an opportunity of a life time!!!! to participate in a photo shoot for Broward County Public Arts & Design 40th Anniversary. Jayadevi Executive Director was awarded the Diversity and Inclusive Award and received the award from Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner. So far 2016 is heading in an amazing direction and hope Jayadevi continues to fly!!!
The United Phagwah/ Holi Celebration was spectacular!!!! Another amazing event! The Group from Suriname was fantastic and the dance style from Suriname was very interesting and incredible. Thank you for exposing use to our rich culture and art forms, we didnt know existed from the other Indo-Caribbean countries. The participation from the other organizations and the partnership from the Broward Sheriff's Office and Crime Stoppers was a FIRST in our community!!!! It was a great accomplishment to have the Broward County Co-sponsor this traditional culture. This is the first time this kind of event received funding in the US.
Thank you Jayadevi Arts for keeping our cultural alive and exposing and educating the larger American community what out little countries have to offer.
