In 2008 when i moved from New Jersey. After a job layoff i decided to take a job in Durham NC with downsizing i was layed off once again. I lost my apartment and ran out of money. ended up in a women's shelter, on their wall was a brochure that said Hold Your Head Up helping women. I called the number and spoke with a very compassionate women Ms. Grady who listened to me prayed for me and then said now lets see what steps you need to take. I now have a great job, house and financial independence. The Founder of Hold Your Head Up with limited resources still gives all she has to give a great soul. I now volunteer my services for the organization.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Each year Hold Your Head Up serves an increasing number of women via our suiting program, career development program & "A Women's Voice" support group for job retention.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

have more community partners supply jobs, home ownership programs.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

is helping the mission of Hold Your Head Up.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very dedicated and involved.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help so many women and children.

Ways to make it better...

we had more resources but that is the struggle for so many non-profits.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Resources allocation.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I actually believe in the mission of this organization!

Hold Your Head up provides business clothing to women who are r-entering the workforce and career support once clients are employed. The organization is well for providing appropriate attire, but few people are aware of the "A Women's Voice" support group programand the fantastic work being done to help women retain their employment. Hold Your Head Up services hundreds of women each year with just one staff member and a group of dedicated volunteers. I hope you will consider supporting Hold You Head Up. A quote from Founder Rachel Grady"If we sit back and wait for everything to be perfect, we will never make a difference in the world and help the disadvantaged women, children and families"

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

from the very beginning of their journeys at Hold Your Head Up our clients work closely with compassionate volunteers who offer evrything from suiting a client for her first interview to mentoring an emerging professional woman.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

not change anything, the organization is wonderful and making a huge difference in communities.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the experience working with a grass roots organization and seeing such a passion and vision for the mission of helping so many women.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

caring, dedicated and available when needed to help in all areas of the organization.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

it could move to a new location and hire staff to serve more women, initiate more career search and job placement programs and expand services beyond Durham, Wake County and Orange Counties of NC.

Ways to make it better...

It could not have been any better it was perfect all around...doing so much with so little of resources and funding BUT the work is being done! Donate to HoldYour Head Up

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of staff and facilities women in NC are underserved especially with more women finding themselves unemployed. Once women gain employment and economic independence they are able to stop government and non-profit services.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Vry often to get to a quality in reality is to start behaving as if you had it already ~CS Lewis~

Hold your Head up addresses the dilemma low-income women face while trying to gain employment without enough finances to dress for the interview.

Each year Hold Your Head Up serves an increasing number of women via our suiting program and career development and "A Women's Voice support group. Since opening in 2008, over 1,000 women have been served. Things that we can do to strengthen the organization:- create more and deeper partnerships with companies and other organizations in order to generate consistent funding services- drive awareness of and participation in our- "A Women's Voice" women's support group our job retention program.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the impact i have seen on our clients and the benefits that volunteers tell me they gain from experiences with the organization.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

create more types of volunteer opportunities. Many people want to volunteer are either not available during the day to work in career development program or have other types of skills that would be useful.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing the impact that we have on our clients the other amazing volunteers and board members.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

amazing staff, volunteers and board members.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand services to help even more women.

Ways to make it better...

i could raise more funding for organization.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

like many smaller non-profits HYHU- struggles to bring in the financial contributions.

One thing I'd also say is that...

funding ..funding is most needed

Hold Your Head Up works with homeless women transitioning to stable employment and housing to help support their job search. They provide workshops and training on professional development, life skills and job search knowledge that encourages women's belief in their own possibilities. They provide professional clothing to help them enter the mainstream employment market. Rachel Grady worked diligently to partner with the We Are One: Women's Conference to provide an opportunity for women to give back to their community. We collected, clothing, rehabbed a women's dorm in a transitional shelter and told the stories of many women. It was life changing for all involved!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my work with the women at the Helen Wright Center and their loyalty and commitment to Rachel Grady. They are thrilled to have her support and I've heard from more than one client how this has changed their life.
