Mission: Reconnecting america is a national organization formed to link transportation networks and the communities they serve.
Programs: The technical assistance program has 2 primary components: (1) place-based initiatives & (2) national research and analytic tools. Many of our technical assistance efforts involve our ctod partners in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary approach. The goal with placed-based initiatives is to engage a broad coalition of regional and local stakeholders-including political leaders, community advocates, businesses, & public agencies-to develop widespread momentum for transit expansion, community revitalization, & compact development, and to then develop local capacity to make change happen with new policies, programs, & investment strategies. The goal with national research and analytical tools is to create data-driven but accessible resources to help communities make difficult planning and investment decisions.
the education program envisions a nation where practitioners, policymakers, professionals and the public have access to inspiring and informative research, can develop the skills they need to create and maintain healthy and vibrant communities and regions, and remain connected in peer networks to foster knowledge development and beneficial working relationships. To realize this vision, reconnecting america produces and disseminates cutting-edge and relevant research, tools, and educational resources; offers standardized and customized trainings; provides strategic coaching and advising; organizes local, regional and national convenings; and, develops targeted learning networks to promote knowledge development, relationship-building and leadership.
t4america is a broad and diverse coalition of more than 400 business elected officials and organizations with the goal of bringing new voices and unusual allies to bear in the national transportation policy debate. T4 reaches out and makes the case to hundreds of national organizations, elected officials, and business owners. With its partners, the t4america campaign has positioned itself as the leading voice for reform to ensure that transportation planning and investment are based on performance measures, not merely road miles built or money spent. T4america has won mounting support, and publicity, for our specific proposals to reduce transportation-related co2 emissions by 40% in the next two decades. An example of a performance target that can and should be tied to transportation spending.
