Mission: GRCC was formed in 1959 by the merger of Goddard Neighborhood Center (1901) and Riverside Community House (1889). It is one of 38 settlement houses belonging to United Neighborhood Houses of NY (UNH), as well as a member of United Neighborhood Centers of America (UNCA), International Federation of Settlements (IFS) and the United Way of NYC. We believe that advocacy on issues and providing quality service are equally important.
Programs: Youth program - provide recreational, education, tuitoring, and college counseling services to youth.
preschool: comprehensive early childhood programs for children ages 2 to 6.
housing and homeless - provides housing, shelter and placement services for low income and homeless people
senior citizens and adults: provides meals, recreational activities and other services to senior citizens.
Goddard-Riverside is a modern day settlement house serving New York City. It has programs for youth and teens, provides college counseling to low income NYC students, enabling them to go to college. It provides housing for adults who have been homeless and provides resources for homeless individuals to help them transform their lives. Its programs for older adults offer a vital lifeline and the opportunity to be part of a lively, caring community.
