Mission: The Galilee Society is the oldest and largest Palestinian non-governmental organization, and strives to achieve equitable health, environmental and socio-economic conditions for the Palestinian minority living in Israel. Since the Galilee Society's establishment in 1981 by 4 healthcare professionals, the Society has been committed to a right-based approach. This approach eliminates the separation between human rights and development as distinct spheres. The Galilee Society works in two spheres: General Program and Strategic Projects. The General Program is comprised of four professional departments: the Health Rights Center, Environmental Justice Center, Rikaz Databank (www.rikaz.org), and the Naqab (Negev) Department. The Strategic Projects include the Regional Research & Development Center and the Medicinal Plant Center for Research and Education (Al-Maissam).
