I would strongly recommend not donating to this organization. The woman that runs this Humane Society is unprofessional and insensitive to people, I fear how she treats pets. She made my children cry the last time we were there because of her mean spirited attitude. I would not waste my money.

I have recently started volunteering at this wonderful shelter and have been amazed by the other volunteers and staff who work so hard to keep the doors open and take care of so many animals especially in this awful economy. The shelter only operates on donations and struggles to maintain its operations from week to week. I have adopted many animals from this shelter long before I started volunteering there and they are the best pets I have ever had. the citizens of our area take this shelter for granted and I wonder what will happen to all the homeless animals in our rural county if they are forced to close.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the adoption of three of my dogs who have been such great additions to our family.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

give them funding from the county and local municipalities whose citizens drop off strays they pick up on a daily basis.

I've been a volunteer at Franklin County Humane Society for 4 years and I watch how hard our animal shelter struggles. We are supported only by donations from the public; and that's all we have. I see the love in each employees eyes when they take in and care for the homeless animals. I volunteer on the Wine Whiskers and Wags benefit and each year it amazes me how an idea can come together and present one of the best events of the year. It is hard to watch an animal be put down because they are not adopted; but a wounderful experience when you find a home for homeless animal. Our shelter needs a lot of things but it is one of the best shelters I have seen.

I was overjoyed by our Wine Whiskers and Wags Benifit last year . Everyone contributed to it and made it a huge success

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make Franklin County help support the sherter. We take in animals from all over the county and get no support from Franklin County.

The very best pet I ever had came from these motivated, caring people. She was a tiny surrendered dog, and the staff knew she would not do well in a kennel with big dogs, so THEY called ME because they knew I would provide a perfect, quiet home for a dog like her. FCHS is not just a shelter. It is a matchmaker! Who could ask for more?

They have placed over 20,000 animals -- two with me. They have very high success rate. I see how hard they work, and how few resources they have to work with. They put every dollar donated to its best use on behalf of the animals. They are the only "open admission" shelter in the area.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

attract enough donors to this 20+ year old program to allow them to be open to the public a maximum number of hours and find volunteers to take even more adoptable animals to the PetsMart stores where they are easily adopted.

Their main focus is to the animals and their welfare. I have seen animals that have come in under less desirable circumstances. They are immediately seen by medical staff and their needs cared for. The best and most wonderful part is when these animals are ready for adoption. Even better is when they go to their forever home. The smile on the animals faces (and trust me there is one) when they go home is the best feeling anyone can have. To see them come in looking awful and in a few short weeks turn around and be adopted to a family. Priceless.

I have been at the shelter and seen the care and love of the volunteers and shelter workers.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make sure they have the sustainable funds to keep the shelter doors open and operating for the good of Franklin County.
