I have had great experiences, not only with their organization at these river cleanup events, but with all of the things that they are doing for our whole community. The results of the river cleanups are immediate & I sure hope that it makes people thing twice about what they toss into our rivers & their general areas. The Watershed Coalition publishes a wonderful newsletter, encourages participation in a variety of events, & is truly a worthy nonprofit group.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

noticing the difference in my community, in several surrounding counties.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

motivated, informed, friendly, & had all of the supplies necessary for the project.

Ways to make it better...

there had been signs at the particular cleanup sites for each river "approach." Maybe others would have just joined in.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

One thing I'd also say is that...

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

Uplifting and Educational! Not to mention motivational! With the annual meeting's professional speakers concerning the Flint River Watershed to the Semi-annual Benthic Monitoring of our rivers and streams, FRWC Rocks!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the course of Benthic monitoring lab examinations.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Do nothing at all.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The Benthic monitoring and annual meetings and the monthly activites that are offered.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very people and environmentally oriented.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Change all of Mid-MIchigans' mindset on watershed health and overall environmental inprovements.

Ways to make it better...

Waders were provided.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Participation from existing members and adding new members/volunteers.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Very well managed and promoted organization.

I became involved when the FRWC did a benthic monitoring demonstration at our annual Earth day Celebration at Mott a few years ago. I have been involved with the monitoring ever since. I have also worked with the organization through our University of Mich-Flint connections. As the University crosses the river we have a vested intrest in maintaining its beauty and health. The FRWC is a natural partner in our concerns. Their outreach into the community and schools has far reaching effects not to be ignored.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching the response of young college students walk away satisfied that they made a difference cleaning up the river. I see a community on the brink of discovering just what a resource our river is and recognizing that it is not limited to downtown Flint

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the people I have met, both staff and volunteer. They are as dedicated to the environment as I.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Friendly, knowlegable, helpful and fun to work with. I look forward to our next meeting in April.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand its scope, possibly forcing clean up of older sanitary systems in the older communities that seem to annually cause problems for Mott Lake. Possibly fund a PAC to push the River's agenda in Lansing and DC

At the FRWC's annual luncheon earlier this year, both myself and a number of people I know filled out cards to become involved with the organization. Two months later, not a single one of us has heard back. If this organization is concerned about both membership and community awareness, I'd begin looking here.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the beatification of the river corridor, and the progress in beginning to repair the Hamilton Dam.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

learning about the various projects they've played a part in.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly and knowledgeable.

Ways to make it better...

the organization had made a better attempt to get community members involved.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

community awareness, membership, funding.

I came to be involved in the Flint River Watershed Coalition thru my love of kayaking and my need to help keep our watershed clean for recreational use but more importantly for aquatic life. The coalition is extremely good with keeping their membership informed of important issues, volunteer opportunities and educational issues related to you rivers and stream thru a committed newsletter. The numbers of road signs within this county informing reisdents that this area is part of the watershed amazing. I hope to become more involved as my schedule permits.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

thru infomation obtained thru the Sierra Club and by volunteering at the Flushing Wallye Festival.

My experience with the FRWC goes way back--- I was around when we were organizing a Board of Directors, partnering with a Veterans group for our very first river clean up, I participated in the first of several Benthic Monitoring events and I applied for grant funds from the Michigan DEQ to help defray costs for several river clean up events and put up our first wastershed road signs. I loved working with this organization!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

.., so many things: river clean ups, annual meetings with great speakers, fund raising events....

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting like-minded people that are dedicated to improving the waterway.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Change the way our region thinks about our watershed.
