Or, clients may proceed directly to use the other Career Center resources including computers, printers, a fax and telephone for job searches and communicating with potential employers. Individual assistance with resumes, interviewing, negotiation, and business etiquette is also available. Special programs are also offered, such as a bi-monthly "Interview Skills Practice" night and a quarterly "Ex-offenders Employment Discussion Groups," and a myriad of workshops. Career Center utilization for 2009 was 249% beyond projections (717 vs. 179). To date, more than 300 Work Search accounts have been created, among the top three sites (of 113 Dress for Success affiliates located in nine countries) allowing for on-line classes and job search. DFS San Antonio was awarded on-line client training through Robert Half International. 150 successful job searches were completed in 2009.

Dress for Success San Antonio helps women educate themselves and gain the job skills necessary to make them more employable. The suits, accessories, and shoes that you donate to them go directly to the candidates of the Dress for Success program. After presenting a class to candidates, I had the pleasure of watching them "shop" for their interview suits. Just think - a suit that had been collecting dust in someone's closet was now going to help one of these ladies make a good first impression. If you cannot take your professional attire directly to their location in Wonderland Mall of the Americas, you can drop off your donations at any Five Star Cleaners, and they will dry clean your donations for free.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
watching the women grow confident in themselves and what they can accomplish
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
helping one party get rid of something they no longer use and supplying another party with something they so desperately need. You can change a life with just one suit.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
excited about learning and helping
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
help so many more women become self sufficient
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
About every six months
