The Career Center is at the heart of job seeking. DFS San Antonio is designated a certified "Work Search" site, and all new clients are oriented to options. They can begin with up to four career assessments resulting in best career matches, then follow up with testing, job leads, training modules and skills certifications. Or, clients may proceed directly to use the other Career Center resources including computers, printers, a fax and telephone for job searches and communicating with potential employers. Individual assistance with resumes, interviewing, negotiation, and business etiquette is also available. Special programs are also offered, such as a bi-monthly "Interview Skills Practice" night and a quarterly "Ex-offenders Employment Discussion Groups," and a myriad of workshops. Career Center utilization for 2009 was 249% beyond projections (717 vs. 179). To date, more than 300 Work Search accounts have been created, among the top three sites (of 113 Dress for Success affiliates located in nine countries) allowing for on-line classes and job search. DFS San Antonio was awarded on-line client training through Robert Half International. 150 successful job searches were completed in 2009.
