I am honored to be a part of Dress for Success Baltimore. We promote the economic independence of disadvantanged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. In addition, we help women who have come to use from prison, shelters, domestic violence, substance abuse and underemployment feel confident. We provide them strength, encouragement, support and training in order to get a job and most importantly a career. Our women come to our boutique and we serve them. As a result, many of the women have shared that they have never seen themselves in a full length mirror nor have they ever had a suit on before. Quite frankly, because of the immediate gratification the women receive once they have that perfect outfit for their interview and or employment, they often will discard the clothes they were wearing and leave our boutique with their new suit. All of our services are free of charge and no cost. However the rewards I receive as a volunteer outweigh anything I have experienced.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
seeing the confidence in the women, the women sharing that because of the professional clothes we gave them, they were able to get and keep the job. This in turn can help this same woman feed her babies, get out of poverty.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the knowledge that we played a part in helping to change a woman's life.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
amazing..with gifts and talents to include event planning, retail expertise, workforce development, etc.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Meet the needs of more women in Baltimore City and surrounding counties
