Causes: Economic Development
Mission: The dcdc's mission is to support existing businesses, attract new businesses and assist in enhancing the quality of life for our community.
Programs: The dcdc is involved in supporting existing businesses and recruiting new businesses to the dewitt area. The dcdc partnered with the small business center to provide free couseling for businessowners, 15 participated. They partnered with the iowa downtown resource center to investigate future downtown development. 30,000 of chamber bucks were sold, keeping spending dollars in dewitt. Local recruitment efforts brought expander americas to locate in dewitt during the fall of 2014. They will employ 30 individuals. A comunity wide commercial property open house tour was conducted in october 2014. The dcdc is a memeber of two economic development regions quad cities first and prosperity eastern iowa. Eastern iowa community college partnered with eight dewitt companies to provide training to 168 inidividuals. The dcdc assited in providing internship opportunities to area high school students
the dcdc promotes member development. Membership is nearly 200 businesses and individuals. Seventeen new members joined during the fiscal year. A new membership dues structure was designed so members could chose from a variety of membership levels. The dcdc ambassadors welcomed 8 new business to dewitt. The first ever "dcdc member's choice awards" program was implemented. Monthly networking events and quarterly lunch and learn meeting were held. New information packets for new members were designed. Monthly revive after five networking events were held. The dcdc annual golf bash fundraiser was held with 26 sponsors and 13 teams participating.
the dcdc promotes the improvement of branding and community relations. A first ever visitors guide with 8000 copies in circulation was completed. A new community guide was designed to be published in july 2015. New social media was employed with over 1,000 followers on facebook. The dcdc joined hte eastern iowa tourism association and the quad cities convention and visitors bureau to promote the community. The annual autumn fest was held with an estimated 1,500 people in attendance. Several holiday events were coordinated by the dcdc including a hometown christmas weekend, santa's arrival, a 1 mile holiday fun run and volunteers put up andtook down holiday decorations for the city.
