Address:

Mission:

The darrell gwynn foundation's mission is to provide support for people with paralysis and prevent spinal cord injuries.

Programs:

The national wheelchair donation program - the darrell gwynn foundation operates a national wheelchair donation program which donates custom power and manual wheelchairs to individuals facing medical and financial hardships. To be eligible for the program, individuals must be confined to a wheelchair, have a power wheelchair recommendation from their physician, show financial need and have exhausted all means of obtaining a wheelchair through their health insurance, medicaid, etc. The darrell gwynn foundation works with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools and other like-minded organizations to identify wheelchair recipients in need of this program service. The program aims to fill a gap that currently exists in our healthcare system. Annually, the foundation changes the lives of 20-30 individuals giving them the gift of mobility with a donation of a wheelchair.

patient assistance fund - the darrell gwynn foundation operates a patient assistance fund that helps give newly injured spinal cord injury patients more hope. The program works with renown rehabilitation hospitals, such as craig hospital in englewood, colorado to assist patients with unexpected costs associated with spinal cord injuries as they recover such as medical supplies and tools needed to return home from the hospital. The patient assistance fund also donates grants to the miami project to cure paralysis' research efforts through the darrell gwynn foundation's fast track laboratory giving patients hope that someday they will walk again. In addition, the patient assistance fund supports speediatrics units at two florida hospitals helping children and families during a very difficult time.

spinal cord injury research & awareness - the darrell gwynn foundation operates an education & prevention program designed to prevent spinal cord injuries before they happen. The program sends speakers in wheelchairs to high schools throughout the state of florida to share their stories about how a poor decision changed their lives forever. The presentation also includes a powerful video titled "it could happen to you". The presentations teach high schoolers, the most vulnerable age group to a spinal cord injury statistically, the dangers of texting & driving, drinking & driving, not wearing seatbelts, diving in unknown waters, playing with guns, reckless horseplay and unsafe sports techniques. The program reaches 10,000 students annually in the state of florida.

Reviews for Darrell Gwynn Foundation Inc

Rating: 5 stars

Darryll Gwynn and his team work tirelessly and lovingly sharing the gift of mobility and life changing possibilities with so many. If not for your foundation trying so hard to reach so many, this great gift would not happen at all. Our grandson, Robert Geno LaViola was given a new custom power wheelchair by the Darryl Gwynn Foundation. It is really hard to find the words that could express the smile on Geno's face and the motivation in his heart to see what he can do every new day. We will remember the Darryll Gwynn team every day to come by looking at the beautiful smile on Geno's face and watching his confidence grow along with his potential as he stretches his boundaries in his new power wheel chair.
