I am in my late 20's and I have never danced before in my life. The first day I walked into CDT I remember thinking "What am I getting myself into?" As soon as the class started I was refreshed and amazed at how the instrutors made every student feel special regardless of skill level. The environment is non-intimidating and the instructors even gave me alternate steps and additional tips so I could reach MY potential. I have grown so much in dance and in confidence by going to classes at CDT. I recommend the studio to dancers of all ages and abilities :0)

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have become a more skilled and more confident dancer.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

work on PR more. CDT has a lot to offer but the word is not out there about the organization. I would also add more classes. Most of the classes are Modern and it would be nice to have more sections of Hip Hop. Also add private lessons.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the knowledge, acceptance, and encouragement from the dance instructors.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very kind and helpful. It is also evident that they love dance and believe in the studio 100%.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

1. Fix up the facilities a little, it's an older building so 10 millions bucks could help restore the building. 2. Sponsor people across the city so those with financial troubles can still share their love of dance.

Ways to make it better...

the salsa class was more progressive. Every time a new person came we went back to the begining. I didn't progress as well as I expected. It would also be beneficial to hire men to come to salsa, it's hard to do without a partner.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the facilities. A lot of people are fooled by "newer" buildings and are willing to pay more money for shinnier buildings. Another challenge is the fact it's in Cincinnati, which is not a huge "dance" city.

One thing I'd also say is that...

people should try CDT. It's a good experience regardless of "how good you are." :0)

The modern dance classes are definitely CDT's biggest strength. They're very affordable and at the same time very high quality. The rest of the classes can be a toss-up; you may love them or hate them, depending on your personal dance experience. CDT also sponsors a variety of professional performances that wouldn't be in Cincinnati otherwise. Volunteering for the agency has been a wonderful experience and I will continue to volunteer for them as long as possible.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

host an even larger variety of professional dance series, HAVE CENTRAL AIR, level out the floors (watch out for a few dips, slopes, and splinters in the basement).....really just be the premiere dance theater it has the heart to become

CDT is wonderful; all of the staff and volunteers are so helpful, and the classes are so much fun for anyone, whether you've danced your whole life or never once.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the way that everyone's helped me to get back into dancing. It's so much fun to cheer one another on in class; it's a very positive atmosphere.

Contemporary Dance Theater brings nationally known dance companies to Cincinnati and has a school of dance for adults and children. I have been a dance teacher for this organization and also been involved in many productions of my own work here. They have always been supportive of the amazing talent of the Cincinnati dance and performance community. They work on a shoestring and would be able to do amazing things with more financial support.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated, resourceful, creative and talented.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Repair their home building and advertise and make the school more substantial

I have been involved with The Contemporary Dance Theater for almost fifteen years. As a teenager I attended dance classes, participated in dance performances, and had the opportunity to meet amazing dancers and artists. I currently teach at the Contemporary Dance Theater. CDT is a wonderful group to work with! It is especially nice to work with a group that is interested in bringing dance and art to the community. Their philosophy is that dance should be experienced by anyone, no matter their financial standing. Their work study program allows for interested individuals to volunteer their time at the studio in return for free dance classes. It is a privilege to be involved with such a worthy and well run organization!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

As the children's dance teacher I have seen first hand the joy that dance and creative movement brings to children of all ages.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The children's excitement when exploring and excelling at concepts in dance. It has been a pleasure sharing dance not only with the children I teach, but with their parents and families as well.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

conscientious, enthusiastic, hardworking, and dedicated

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Improve the studio with high-tech music and stage equipment, provide numerous scholarships to dance students, and bring in world class dance companies to perform and teach at the studio.

Ways to make it better...

more people new about all the wonderful things that CDT has to offer

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial. As a non-profit dance studio the budget is very tight. It would be great if the studio had more money to spend on music equipment and advertising.

One thing I'd also say is that...

If you're interested in Dance check out the website: www.cdt-dance.org or call or stop by the studio!
