I have volunteered as a facilitator for the Off the Streets program at CUB assisting women moving through prostitution and drug addiction. I've been so impressed by the organization that with my team, we offered to do monthly facilitation training for their paid facilitators. We teach self-awareness, breathing practices, conflict resolution, communication skills and leadership development. The dedication of these facilitators is second to none. As we know, an organization is only as good as the people who staff the organization and CUB does something to foster deep commitment to helping others through addiction and recovery. In the long run, this strengthens the whole organization and contributes to the good results they are getting with their Off the Streets program. We also appreciate the ongoing support of the executive team at CUB; they are warm and accessible and open to creativity and constructive feedback. I've a waiting list of women from my own women's groups who want to volunteer with this organization as it is a life altering experience.

Working with the women in the Off the Streets program through facilitation and facilitation training. These women really apply these skills and I've seen them deepen their own self-awareness which benefits those they serve.

Cincinnati Union Bethel Social Services is a well run, well managed Social Services Agency. It is currently celebrating 180 years of service in the Cincinnati Area. Service include the management and operations of the Anna Louise Inn which has been around for 100 years. The Inn exists to provide safe and affordable housing for women. I am continuously impressed with the services rendered and the number of women benefiting from that service. During 2009, 251 at risk women were housed at the Inn, providing them an opportunity to become self supporting. Cincinnati Union Bethel operate five (5) Early Childhood Development Centers in the Cincinnati Area. These centers have distinguished themselves by meeting every standard outlined for them to achieve. I have witnessed the pre-school students improvement which has enhanced their ability to be successful entering the first grade of Elementary School. Over 600 students are currently enrolled at the five centers. Cincinnati Union Bethel operates an "Off the Streets" program in the Cincinnati area. This program is design to help women involved in prostitution move toward safety, recovery, empowerment, and community reintegration. I have been very impressed with the results this program is getting. With Counseling and Intervention, during 2009, 100% of women reduced their substance use. 100% of women reduced their prostitution involvement. The program services being provided by Cincinnati Union Bethel in the Cincinnati area is making a trememdous difference in the life and health of the community.

I joined the Board of Trustees of Cincinnati Union Bethel 14 years ago and I am amazed at how much it has grown and the number of women, children, and families in need that it has assisted and continues to serve. Cincinnati Union Bethel will celebrate its 180th anniversary this year and it has a deep, rich history of serving the less fortunate in the Cincinnati area. But, over the past five to ten years, the organization and its programs (especially the Off the Streets program) have grown to the point of being nationally recognized and awarded and now Cincinnati Union Bethel serves as a role model for other communities across the country that strive to replicate the successes of Cincinnati Union Bethel's programs. The doors to the Anna Louise Inn have been open to women in transition and families in need for over 100 years. You can see the difference in the eyes and in the words of the residents. The Anna Louise Inn has improved the lives of so many people over so many years. The Off the Streets program is relatively new considering the long history of Cincinnati Union Bethel. But this collaboration among many organizations has made an immediate positive impact on the lives of the women in the program and on the communities in which we live and work. The Early Childhood Education program has helped so many children aged three to five years get a head start before kindergarten. I recently visited one of Cincinnati Union Bethel's Early Childhood Education sites and read a book to a classroom of four-year-olds. Their eagerness and hunger to learn at such an early age was simply contagious. The staff at Cincinnati Union Bethel is a wonderful, creative, hard-working group of people. They take the mission of Cincinnati Union Bethel to heart every day and their greatest reward is to witness the vast improvement in the lives of so many women, children, and families in need.

so many ways and over so many years. As a long-time board member, I helped to develop the mission and strategic planning of Cincinnati Union Bethel and I have worked closely with staff members in implementing and supervising the programs and services.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the services that it provides and the staff and board members associated with Cincinnati Union Bethel. This organization greatly assists so many women, children, and families in need and the staff and board members are very hard-working, dedicated people.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the most creative, caring, and hard-working people with whom I have ever had the pleasure of working on so many nonprofit boards and committees. They are simply the best.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

serve so many more women, children, and families in need and it could continue to assist other communities across the nation to establish similar very effective programs that benefit all of us.
