Direct beneficiaries per year:

--Radio Campesina is the movement's nine-station Spanish-language radio network, with popular regional Mexican music and high quality interactive educational programming for half a million daily listeners in three states.

--Thousands of farm worker and other Latino kids have received after-school and weekend instruction and tutoring to help them be proficient in English and Algebra by high school

--Millions of students learn about Cesar's work through California's Chavez holiday law and many kids learn Cesar's values by getting involved with service-learning activities in their communities around the country.

Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: Help a child learn to read, provide academic guidance to a child, supervise a field trip.

Geographic areas served: Southwest Region: California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas

Programs: Housing and Economic Development; Academic Enrichment Programs through Si Se Puede Learning Centers; Senior Care through Spirit, Body and Mind Programs; Informational news and entertainment through Radio Campesina.

Mission:
The mission of Cesar Chavez Foundation is to enrich and improve the lives of low-income families by meeting their essential human, cultural, and community needs through multiple programs.
Results:
Received the National Service Impact Award 2011 for outstanding volunteer service.

More than 4,300 units of new and rehabilitated high-quality affordable housing in four states have been built for low income families.

Our nine station radio network, Radio Campesina has provided popular regional Mexican music and high quality interactive educational programming for half a million daily listeners in three states.

The Cesar Chavez Foundation is making incredible impact for youth, adolescents, and adults across the Southwest. Due to the fact that they place the Si, Se Puede! Learning Centers within the affordable housing communities which they own, the impact is personal, direct, and immediate. This ... more »

I volunteered at Gilroy's Si Se Puede Learning Center. I have done many hours helping out with activities, cleaning, decorating, and much more. Not only have I given to the Center, but the staff at the center have also helped me much with forms I have needed for school. This is a great place for ... more »
