Mission: Catholic Hospice was founded in 1988 and is a cooperative service of the Archdiocese of Miami and Mercy Hospital. Catholic Hospice is dedicated to preserving the quality of life of the dying by restoring their dignity, choices and control. Catholic Hospice provides expert pain control and symptom management as well supportive services to families facing terminal illness. Catholic Hospice provides services to all persons, regardless of their ability to pay.
Programs: Catholic Hospice employs an interdisciplinary team of professionals that deliver the highest quality services and support. Among services offered are physical care, nursing services, medications, medical supplies, pain control and symptom management, as well as dietary guidance. Families are also educated regarding patient care. Home health aides are available for practical care such as bathing and assistance. Furthermore, the bereavement team provides spiritual and emotional support, grief counseling and additional services as needed. Catholic Hospice serves all patients in their homes or home-like environment (i.e. nursing home) regardless religion, faith, diagnoses or ability to pay. With the L'chaim Jewish Hospice Program, Catholic Hospice provides services in accordance to Jewish traditions and values.Catholic Hospice sponsors many bereavement support groups for the community, including Camp Hope, a bereavement camp for children who have experienced the death of a loved one.
