Programs: The camden conference, a 501(c)(3) organization located in midcoast maine, is renowned as one of the largest foreign affairs citizens conferences in the u. S. Now in its 32nd year, the conference has become a major maine tradition that offers an opportunity to learn from and engage with leading experts on vital global issues. The highlight is a high-quality three-day conference held annually each february in camden that focuses on a different theme each year. The conference has expanded to live-streaming venues in rockland belfast, and university of southern maine in portland. In february, 2018, the conference hosted its three-day forum on new word disorder and americas future, which was attended by over 500 people at the main venue and streamed live via the internet to more than 600 people at 3 off-site venues in midcoast maine and to individuals across the u. S. . In recent years, the camden conference has made a major effort to extend its globally-focused program to provide an invaluable educational resource to maine students and teachers. Over 200 of the nearly 1100 conference attendees were students from maine high schools and universities. In addition, the camden conference has a robust program of free community events held throughout the year. In 2017-2018, conference programming included 72 community events attracting more than 2,500 attendees from maine communities. The camden conference is an entirely volunteer-driven organization with only two staff and relies on volunteers who have created and sustain its year-round programs and the conference weekend.
