Target demographics: At-risk youth age 6 through 17 years of age. 51% of our Club members live at or below the poverty level with 49% of these children being from single or no parent in residence family unit.

Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: work with a child helping them learn to read, help with homework, serve healthy snacks to kids, share a hobby or special interest with the kids, assist with a fundraising project, participate in high yield learning activities with kids, be a positive role model

Geographic areas served: Denton & Wise Counties in Texas

Programs: BGCA clubs serve school-age youth through a variety of programs including homework assistance, technology centers, teen centers, career exploration, job assistance, sports and recreation, art classes and leadership development. In addition to program development, Boys & Girls Clubs of America provides programmatic and executive training for Club professionals nationwide.

Mission:
Our mission is enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens by promoting education, positive choices, and healthy lifestyles.
Results:
98% of the kids served achieved a B or above in all academic subjects for the school year ending 2010-2011. 100% were promoted to the next grade level on time, 100% of youth scheduled to graduate from high school gradudated on time, 0% of members were involved in the juvenile system and there were no teen pregnancies among Club members

When I first started with this organization I found what many individuals do.....we know the name but only a few people really know what the Club does within their community. The Club serves any child who needs them, and provides an alternative to day care or remaining at home alone. The Club ... more »
