Programs: Since our founding in 1991, thousands of people of all ages have volunteered through Boston Cares at over 300 Greater Boston schools and non-profits. Our signature Calendar Program features 150 projects each month through which volunteers paint shelters, visit seniors, feed the hungry, steward the environment, help children with special needs, register voters ? the list goes on and on. Youth and families volunteer through special BOOYAH! - Boston?s Young Active Hands ? projects. Through Citizen Academy people explore issues encountered through community service and identify action steps they can take. We organize Corporate Volunteer projects for companies of all sizes through our annual Corporate Volunteer Day and Hands at Work program. Frosty?s Friends is a Winter Holiday gift drive through which volunteers respond to letters from 1,700 disadvantaged children served by our project partners.

My life has greatly been enhanced by volunteering in many places through Boston Cares : o ). Whether i's feeding the homeless, tutoring students for their upcoming GED, helping at a food pantry./soup kitchen, helping at a harvest festival in the next town that I live in, ESL, and so much more, Boston Cares has been patient, understanding, and so helpful in assisting me to find the best fit for me re: volunteer activities. I've graduated to being a volunteer to the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway volunteer. Am recovering from surgery, and will be back volunteering c Boston Cares after 12 February 2013. A rich, and rewarding experience. I highly recommend this organization : o )
