To prevent cruelty and promote kindness to animals in our community.

Blue mountain humane society serves as the animal shelter for the city and county of walla walla and surrounding areas. In 2014, we cared for 2,155 animals until they could be returned to their owners or appropriate homes could be found for them. We joyfully reunited 435 pets with their owners and we placed 1,252 pets in new homes. Our commitment to not euthanize for space led to 245 pets being transferred to other no-kill shelters and rescues around the state.

What a great organization! I have lived in Walla Walla for many years, and am so proud to see the progress our local shelter has made over the years. They even started a Trap/Neuter/Return program for feral cats, working together with other animal welfare groups in town, so they could stop killing feral cats in the shelter. I just adopted my cat from them.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

continued progress to be low-kill and find positive solutions for animals in need.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly and helpful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

hire a shelter vet and open an low cost spay/neuter for the community!

Ways to make it better...

their hours were a little longer - open before noon maybe?

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

One thing I'd also say is that...

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
