The american academy of sleep medicine extended an accreditation to the sleep disorder center of baptist memorial hospital-north mississippi, making it one of the few accredited sleep disorder centers in north mississippi. The following is a partial listing of such services and activities offered in fiscal year 2014: --assistance was offered to various individuals with transportation, dietary, and pharmaceutical needs --diagnostic and laboratory testing was provided to individuals identified by a local charity clinic --screenings and seminars were provided for senior citizens throughout the year --support groups were provided for diabetes management, cancer patients, bariatric patients, heart, parkinsons, expectant mothers, etc. --hospital employees conducted adult and child cpr classes, as well as first aid classes, at various locations. --programs and seminars were conducted to promote women's services including a girl's day out, breast cancer and heart disease awareness, childbirth preparation classes and an annual children's wellness program. --numerous health screenings, vaccinations and educational programs in a variety of business and industry settings were offered. --multiple classes such as baby-sitter preparation, breast feeding, child birth, and stress management were provided. -- the hospital participated in community events such as relay for life, double decker festival, march for babies, go red for women, tickled pink, walk for diabetes, united way, and operation christmas child. --health screenings including blood glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, anemia, height/weight/body composition, blood pressure and bone density were offered at multiple community outreach events--free usage of meeting space for civic organizations and support groups was offered.
