I have worked for over 10 years in Afghanistan and have had the opportunity to get familiar with many types of organizations working there. AHDS is by far one of the best NGOs that I have come across. They are extremely professional, they always put the needs of their beneficiaries before everything else, and take a truly participatory approach in how they manage and run their organization. AHDS is an excellent example of an Afghan based and Afghan run NGO that has withstood the test of time and is needed for the longterm stability of Afghanistan.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have travelled to Kandahar and have seen their facilities. AHDS is the primary provider of healthcare in Kandahar and Urozgan Provinces. They have managed to provide continuouse and uninterrupted healthcare to male and female populations in these two provinces for almost 20 years despite the political and security turmoil.

What is unique about this organization?

It is entirely Afghan run and Afghan managed. They are focused and are not fund driven. They have maintained their unique focus and have not expanded to other areas despite lucrative opportunities.

This is one of the few best NGOs in Afghanistan. Its healthcare programs and training of health professionals in Southwest of Afghanistan has key role in bringing positive changes for the communities.
