This charity was started from an idea high school students had. It is amazing how quickly the organization has grown with just a few people and a passion to help others. It truly proves that anyone can change the world (or in this case the Bay Area) no matter how old or young you are.

I have been the Executive Director of 1Closet since 2014 and have enjoyed being part of this organization and being able to help teens in my community. One of the best parts of 1Closet is not only giving teen clothing to organizations that can provide them to their teens in need, but also to see the support of teens and peers in my community by giving back and going through their closets and donating their clothing and helping sort the clothes at my home. The teen to teen giving from my friends and community is AWESOME!

On behalf of Rainbow Community Center and in collaboration with the Diablo Community Center of Mt. Diablo High School & Olympic High School; we truly thank your organization - 1-Closet for gifting forward garments for our most marginalized and disenfranchised population.

The clothes that were provided have been of high quality in terms of gently used items and have been welcomed by our students and families. Students often share that they feel happier and have supported them in ways such as: Appropriate attire to attend interviews, adding additional wardrobe essentials to maintain, improve or restore a healthy lifestyle and creating a positive sense of self by just feeling better.

We appreciate the collaboration and look forward to more opportunities to better serve the young people in our communities.

Your organization brings not only warmth to the physical bodies but hope to their minds and spirits.

1Closet is the brainchild of a teenager, my daughter. Started in 2011, Carly and Riley Glasson and Laura Graham, high school students have helped change the lives of thousands of foster/shelter and LGBTQ teenagers in need of clothing. They have educated their piers and started a movement that is helping youth return to the classroom and life with confidence!
