We became aware of Finally Home Farm in 2011 when I was looking online for an animal rescue nearby and when we were looking to add to our pet family of 3 cats and 1 dog (all rescues). I called and spoke with Ms. Ann McCallion and she explained exactly what FHF provided for the animals and their plans for the future for the Farm. I decided to visit the Farm and see for myself how well the animals were physically being taken care, including their health and the attention paid to the animals, and the environment they lived in. I was immensely impressed with Ann and her partner, Al, who was there are the time. I told them that I had seen "Gabe's" picture online and fell in love instantly. It must have been my lucky day because Gabe had been placed into a home 2 days prior but that just didn't work out at no fault to Gabe. As Finally Home Farm's policy, all animals placed will be monitored when first placed and if it doesn't work out, they want the animals returned to them. Luckily, Gabe was again available for adoption and I knew we could provide a loving, caring environment for him and he seemed to like me so I requested and filled out forms to formalize an adoption. While Al and Ann reviewed the papers, Ann continued to tell me about the animals available and that all animals, before being placed, have vet visits for checkups, up-to-date shots and are also spayed or neutered. I found the rescue home clean, warm (this was in December) and the animals seemed all well fed and were sleeping with one another and they all seemed quite content. As Ann was talking about another cat, "Firefly", and how she came to be at FHF, I fell in love...again. Firefly was brought to the rescue after she was rescued from a fire in a warehouse while she was a kitten. She was extremely shy but would purr when she came to you for petting. I knew that she would need patience in overcoming her shyness and since I didn't work, I could provide her with a home where she would be loved, physically taken care of and I would respect her need to overcome her shyness and slight fear of people at her own pace. I asked Ann if it was possible to me to adopt Firefly as well. Ann said that if I was willing and my vet reference checked out, that would be wonderful since having Gabe adopted with her maybe she would feel more comfortable. Luckily I had bought 2 cat carriers that day. I know me. So that December, we welcomed Gabe and Sweetie Pie (Firefly) home and introduced them to the rest of our family. Ann checked in and I sent pictures and updated on both cats assuring her that they were doing fine and were home forever. We have continued to donate not only money but supplies such as food, litter and pet beds and FHF makes it easier to donate these items by keeping a wish list on Amazon.com for the customer's easy access and convenience.

Finally Home Farm is a wonderful rescue and shelter for most animals. If you'd like more information on this rescue, please check out their Facebook page or call them directly. They always have time to answer any questions.
