Honestly there are better places to donate to if you want to support veterans, give to them these people don't care about us.

CHR is so fantastic. They treat their rescues like their own. No pressure to adopt. They want to find the perfect home for their animals. Our Sophie was in such poor shape when they got her, it took nearly 3 months to make her well. We just fell in love with Sophie. She is now living her best life.

I have been a volunteer for NAUS for nearly a decade, now serving (unpaid) as a Chapter President and member of the Board of Directors. While I am also a member of many similar veterans groups and organizations, I choose to volunteer my time and energy to NAUS because I believe it to be the most effective and most focused such organization I have seen. This is an outstanding organization which achieves excellent results and has been highly effective in a manner which is out of proportion to its dedicated small staff and lean budget. NAUS serves and represents all ranks and services-- a true umbrella organization for many others and one that serves as a guidepost and information conduit for active duty military, families, retirees, and veterans across this nation and around the world. Many members, like myself, are volunteers who contribute both locally and nationally to the cause of our Nation's military readiness and to ensuring the integrity and delivery of earned deferred compensation which was promised to those who have served and sacrifices in the cause of freedom and in our Nation's defense. This is a sacred mission and, unlike some similar "veterans" organizations, NAUS is not sitting on the sidelines as a social club while currying favor with those who would have us singing Kumbaya on the beltway golf courses rather than fighting hard in the halls of Congress. This organization is well deserving of non-profit status by virtue of its noble cause, its lean organzation structure, its exemplary record as a positive force for change and its excellent leadership which is focused like a laser upon its mission. -- Alaska Joe

Great group to volunteer with! Hard workers who truly care about saving lives!

I have personally seen the impact EMP is having on the education and consequently on the futures of scholarship recipients, which will help the whole country move forward.

I have volunteered and supported this charity for a couple of years. It is an incredible orginization and has the most awesome people working for it. The most inspiring thing I have done outside of my family in my life.

Preemies Today started out as a place for me to connect with other families with similar issues. I found friends who knew exactly what we were going through and could help with advice, ideas, and resources. But the leadership is so active that it quickly became much more impacting in our lives. They frequently seek input on their newsletters, Web site, and other communcation so it gave me a place to contribute and use some of my professional skills during this time of caring for my child. It also provided us with extremely relevant and unique lectures that gave us information about at a critical time in my child's development--information that I credit to helping us get my child to sleep through the night for the first time, and regain my child's ability to speak. I feel that the people involved in Preemies Today never stop looking out for us and are always highlighting information that is applicable and useful for our family.

I want to thank this wonderful organization for making my baby girl a quilt while my husband is deployed. We have not received it yet, but I know it'll be beautiful. It's amazing how some people take their time and make such a great memory for a stranger. I know she'll love it and we really really appreciate everything that's been done to the families of deployed soliders.

This organization represents the steadfast defense of the fundamental rights of the citizens of this Republic. This organization is instrumental in providing information about upcoming legislation as well as providing education to the public and legislators alike regarding the fundamental rights that citizens have, and may exercise at their option.<br><br>This organization is financially transparent and accountable. This organization spends its money wisely, and has successfully challenged several recent abrogations of the people’s rights by both federal and state agencies and has been instrumental in restoring both rights and property to many law-abiding citizens who were victims of governmental overreach.<br><br>Very few organizations are as steadfast in their devotion to their mission statement as this one.

My daughter was diagnosed when she was very very young. It was the most devasting news in the world. When I found out about FARA, I was thrilled and delighted that someone was reaching out to the scientific community at large, and also that we, as parents, would be able to make a difference through fundraising. FARA has brought us a sense of relief knowing that this professional organization has the ability to meet with other professionals and move forward toward a treatment and a cure. Other organizations look at FARA in awe and ask how FARA has accomplished so much in such a short amount of time. Dedication is the answer!! FARA is a team of dedicated individuals who will NOT stop until we nail this disease!!

Good Evening :<br><br>I am Alison Spencer- the principal of Newfield Primary School. A small public school in the nation of Antigua and Barbuda. Hands across the sea has awakened the interest of both teachers and students in fictional and non-fictional books. I have witnessed visits of classes accompanied by teachers to the library. This interest includes the Kindergarten and Grade One classes. As the principal I find this to be very encouraging because I believe it is easier to sustain the child's interest in reading if the initiated early to listen to their teachers read but more importantly read with support and on their own.<br><br>There is a sparkle in the eyes of these young children when they discover that they are stringing words together to form a sentence. It is beautiful to observe that approximately ninety-five percent are reading and comprehending the content of what they read. <br><br>On behalf of the Newfield Primary SchoolI wish to express heartiest appreciation for the invaluable contribution that the Hands across the sea team has made and anticipate more in the future.<br><br>

The BMW Community Development Group (BMW CDG) is a Virginia based Nonprofit 501 (c) 3 Corporation formed on March 31, 2006. The corporation operation will be throughout the United States. The major services that this non-profit corporation will provided are as follows: develop rural communities with housing developments at cost, grow at a challenging, deliberate and manageable rate, and to become a good corporate citizen; provide professional services to the public, private, continue to be multi-sector marketing, networking, responsiveness, quality assurance and the repeat business of satisfied customers. The project is a mix development of affordable med level and executive single-family houses. Each section will have common area community support area such as parks and recreation areas. <br> <br>The keys to the success of The BMW CDG are and will continue to be multi-sector marketing, networking, responsiveness, quality assurance and the repeat business of satisfied customers. <br>The initial services of the corporation will be provision of management, technical assistance and consulting services to the US Department of Agriculture and other agencies of the federal government through retainer agreements. Achieving break-even and ultimately profitable status will require a combination of local and regional marketing and slow but deliberate growth to a national presence. Initial and long-term financial analysis of the four (4) business sectors chosen by the founding members’ project outstanding promise and results. <br> <br>In conclusion, The BMW Community Development Group Business Plan projects systematic and orderly growth of the revenue over the next five years, growing from $100,000 in the first year, $1,200,000 in year two, $2,500,000 and $5,000,000 annually by year five. <br>

As an Executive Director with NOVACO, serving formerly homeless women survivors of abuse and their families in Northern Virginia, I have seen many of our clients dreams of owning a small business realized, through the support and education received by the Community Business Partnership. NOVACO offers a savings program helping clients save for their dream of their own business. We recommend to all our clients taking classes and working with the expert volunteers and mentors at Community Business Partnership. Several clients have received help writing their Business Plans, or drafting their financial forecast in order to seek loans. Personally I have attended several Seminars where experts are gathered to discuss preparing to start a business, how to find alternative funding sources. These seminars are valuable and offer one-on-one meetings with Venture Capital firms, banks and other resources. Their five class program track offers a strong outline for new businesses to follow. I am pleased that so many of our NOVACO clients went on to be Community Business Partnership clients and successful small business owners.

Angelus Academy was formed by a group of devoted women who sought to provide an authentically Catholic education for their children in the Northern VA area. After 12 years the school has moved into its own building, has an enrollment of 120 students in grades K - 8, and offers aftercare for their working parents. Teachers and staff are intimately concerned with the development of each child; academically, spiritually, and socially. Parents are dedicated to providing an exciting and robust environment in which their children can thrive, sharing their professional, artistic, and educational talents. The accepting atmosphere at the school provides a safe-haven in our critical world. Graduates are accepted at top high schools in the area, and have been referred to as "academic superstars". As a parent volunteer of four children attending Angelus Academy, I am proud to recommend Angelus Academy as a "Great Non-profit."

The Hemophilia Association of the Capital Area (HACA) serves individuals in the Washington, DC Metro area - to include all of DC, Northern Virginia and two counties in Maryland. I have been involved with the organization for the past three months and am pleased to report that this is a worthy charity. The organization is staffed by two part time individuals and housed in an office in Fairfax. During this time I have learned much about hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. For example, did you know that medications for those with hemophilia while covered by insurance still cost families between $150,000 and $600,000 per year - depending on the severity of the condition. Can you imagine having to pay those sorts of costs to survive? (Lapse in insurance coverage is obviously not an option nor is a lapse in medication.) I also understand it is a very painful disease and left untreated can be debilitating. This is a very worthy charity as are all charities. But -- $1 given to this organization goes much further and has a much more direct impact on our community than that same $1 given to one of the mega charities.
