Reading Nonprofits and Charities

We were having a bad year. Covid-19 just started. We were in need of a mattress, coffee table, 1 Winter coat and coffee maker. Mission of Deeds came through for us.<br>They gave us an electric coffee maker, small but good for 2 people, a queen sized BodyFit mattress a 42 inch coffee table and 1 Winter coat. <br>Ran out to get filters, still sitting in our cabinet because the coffee maker never worked. The coat was very small, they did replace it with something that was for early Fall, or could be used as a under jacket liner, it had a 1.5 inch collar and no hood. We requested a short coffee table because we are disabled and have 2 walkers. It is too long with very sharp corners, which I constantly walk into. My calves are always very colorful - and hurt. But, the best part is the brand new mattress they brought us! ALL SPRINGS, WITHOUT A STIRCH OF PADDING. They refused to even check it. I'm not talking about the box spring. I'm talking about the mattress!! A nurse came over and we had her look at it. She said, this is terrible, no one can sleep on this. She immediately called our caseworker. They couldn't get anyone to respond. We were given a mattress topper, but the mattress is so bad, the mattress topper isn't enough. I now have stenosis in my lumbar spine at pressing on my spinal cord, which I was told that bed of springs, if it didn't cause the injury, no doubt it seriously contributed to it. Can't find the mattress company's contact info. I cannot believe this nonprofit that credits themselves for providing a million mattresses didn't realize just how very defective that mattress is - they just didn't care!

This organization is not very popular, but it has touched many lives in our community! During the pandemic season different single-moms said that they received practical help which helped them to go through the pandemic season. Thank you for all your good works!!<br>

My son was born with a bpi 3 years ago and it was very important to reach out to talk to someone else that also had a child with a bpi. Before I found the site, I thought this injury was rare and there was no one else in our area with it. I found out how common it was and there were lots of families in our area to connect with! It has truly made a difference with our journey!
