I came into Muskegon, for a 3 to 4 hour stay from West Palm Beach Florida. Because of miscommunications, I ended up staying at the shelter for a few days. The staff is awesome and the food isn't too bad. If there were more donations, the staff could make up dinners fit for a king (they are that talented). They do a good job of taking care of the needs of the people, however, some are not thankful for a place to stay, a clean bed and food. I wish the best for this organization. They could do so much more, if the people would donate to the cause. Many children are at the shelter and the "home life" that they have is enriched by the family atmosphere. The children have many "Aunties, Grandmothers and Great Grandmothers" Volunteer to do a meal, or anything you can. You will be blessed. Thank you!

The owner B.P. is absolutely horrible she left a 2 year old granddaughter alone with one of the wolves. That wolf took that baby's arm. The place is absolutely disgusting there is trash dust dirt poop in the home everywhere it is a animal hoarding situation the state has stepped in and is trying to save these animals. Please do not donate to these hoarders of wild life. Even after the courts have threatened them with going to jail if they bought more wildlife they still go to animal auctions and purchase wildlife. Remember sanctuaries don't breed sanctuaries don't put collars on the animals. This place does

My name is Natasha Heykoop and I am the Founder and President of Lighthouse For Veterans. Our story began from tragedy. On Thanksgiving Day, 2015, my brother in law, Jeremy, took his own life when he lost his battle with PTSD. After losing him I decided that I needed to do something to help our Veterans. I gathered a few great folks to help me form a Board of Directors, and in November of 2017 - Lighthouse For Veterans was born. We haven't looked back since. We hold multiple events every year, from a Poker Tournament, Bowling Tournament, two car shows, and a Golf Tournament, to Veteran retreats, and partnering with other nonprofits to raise awareness of the Veteran suicide epidemic. I am a certified QPR Gatekeeper Trainer, which is a fancy way of saying that I can teach the signs to look for to know if someone is suicidal, the questions to ask if you believe someone is contemplating suicide, and the resources to get someone to safety, and to get the help that they need. Lighthouse For Veterans has a vision to open stables to begin an equine therapy program designed specifically for Veterans. This is a great non-profit for educating yourself on major problem areas in the community. Noww Muskegon has been a nonprofit in the community for little over a year now and has helped so many people and so many different ways. I regret to inform you that Disability Network West Michigan (a publicly funded Center for Independent Living) is not in compliance with its own bylaws, its State contract, or IRS regulations governing non-profit entities. <br> <br>These issues call into question the organization’s legal status and its commitment to Muskegon’s disability community. Representatives from the disability community asked Disability Network West Michigan to resolve our concerns in mediation, but they declined. <br> <br>Bylaws <br> <br>• Disability Network West Michigan’s Board of Directors does not meet the standards established in the organization’s own bylaws, which require the Board to be comprised of 9-13 people, a majority (at least 51%) of which must be persons with significant disabilities. Their current Board has 7 members, only 3 of whom have significant disabilities. Boards that willfully neglect their fiduciary duties cannot legally enter into contracts on behalf of the organization. <br> <br>State Contract / Michigan Open Meetings Act <br> <br>• Disability Network West Michigan is not in compliance with several requirements of its State contract, which reaffirms the requirements of Board composition stated above. Other violations of their State contract include: Board meetings are not open to the public; Disability Network West Michigan does not have affirmative action policy and procedures as required. <br> <br>IRS / Federal Law <br> <br>• Disability Network West Michigan has refused to make public disclosure of documents required of IRS Tax Exempt entities, including their 2013-14 990 and original IRS application for 501c3 status. <br>

Darling Cetaceans has assimilated to the Great Lakes region by forming lasting relationships with other local organizations to implement educational projects. Events and presentations concerning marine mammals effectively engage children of all ages to help highlight local connections to the marine world. Educators with Darling Cetaceans offer excellent factual instruction, with a focus on ensuring that students understand the importance of stewardship to the overall health of our waters.

Several times per year I clean out closets, drawers, rooms and decorating items ready for a change and as soon as I empty my trunk I go right into the store looking for other buried treasure. I love Goodwill because it is not just a store it is a means to an end. It helps others with training and job placement. How many of us go to Unemployment office to get put on a list and never hear from them again. Or have put in job applications and never called again. The staff are always friendly and wiling to help you unload your car with a hand out and a thanks for donating to Goodwill. Also you can get a tax deduction. Cant get much better than that. It is more than a store go check it out. Never know what can be on the next rack.
