I reached out to Pelican Harbor Seabird Station about a bird that had been badly contaminated by oil, and I was so deeply grateful for their help. Oil exposure is devastating for birds — it affects their feathers, breathing, and overall survival — but Pelican Harbor responded with compassion, professionalism, and expertise. From the moment I contacted them, I knew the bird was in the best possible hands. They acted quickly, reassured me, and gave this animal a real chance at life again. It’s clear that Pelican Harbor is more than a rescue center — they’re a lifeline for wildlife in Miami. I also donated to support their work, because seeing firsthand the difference they make left me with so much respect and gratitude. Miami is lucky to have such a dedicated team protecting its wildlife. Thank you Pelican Harbor all that you do!

While it may be impactful in some ways, this is a very unorganized nonprofit and they use the same stories over and over. It’s very rare that a good match is made and maintain. The turnaround rate is too frequent for the program specialist to efficiently maintain the match the scholarship coordinator is under qualified, and although kids do get money, it’s very unfair how it is done the CEO where did his own son the biggest scholarship which he obviously did not deserve The new VP will be the downfall of this organization

I got the opportunity to learn about Pridelines this year after meeting Mary-Joe Castells. Their vision and desire to service de community captivated me. Since then I have had the blessing of meeting people Pridelines has touched with the hard work of their team and volunteers. Pridelines is doing a great job helping lgbtq youth feel safe and giving them tools that help them improve their lives. Their team strives for inclusion and awareness, allowing individuals and the community in general to see and seek path beyond stereotypes and stigma. <br>Anyone going to Pridelines will find a wonderful group of people with open arms ready to love them no matter what.

I have four kids and was in an abusive relationship with their father. Women's Emergency Network was able to help me when I found out that I was pregnant again. <br> <br>I have been able to leave my ex and begin a new life with the help of their assistance. I don't have much, but I have great thanks for them in my time of need.

United Way does an excellent job serving individuals in need in our local community. They have an excellent reputation and track record and respond to any need our community has.

Wow, a close look at the financials is quite interesting. The organization spends an enormous amount of money on events, galas, etc...; but raises little money. A total of $ 312K was spent in 2010 on fundraising fees, and over $ 1.8M on fundraising expenses! That means their parties are awesome. The CEO makes nearly 300K a year, plus the financials note that they pay the CEO's annual membership at the Fisher Island Club. What's that you ask? Well according the Fisher Island Club website, it is the "Tropical Island Oasis with Private Beach, Golf, Tennis, Spa & Marina." It goes on to state that, "If you are looking for a world of exceptional luxury and pleasures, look no further. This exclusive private island paradise offers you world-class resort amenities including a seaside golf course, Mediterranean inspired tennis club, luxury spa, stunning beach club and marina along side luxury hotel accommodations and unrivaled service. Fisher Island Club is where only the most extravagant of lives come to vacation, play and live." Wait, there is more. The biggest expenses for Best Buddies in 2010 were the American Express at $ 588,511.00 and over $ 300K for their swanky corporate headquarters in downtown Miami. Hey, you can't the CEO to leave the private island and go to some mediocre office in Miami, do you? No, that wouldn't do at all. the Miami Tower "is the city's premier business address, the 47-story Miami Tower is also know for a world-class array of upscale amenities and personalized tenant services." I am glad to see everyone is going "first class." The most staggering line item is that the organization raised over $ 4.3M in 2010; but incurred direct expenses of $ 6.9M!!!! That is a loss of over $ 2.6M!!!! <br>

A committed and well managed organization, the ANF is definitively a life saver for many under privileged Nicaraguans. Focusing on health and education, ANF's contribution is self-evident when we see thousands of young and old people positively impacted by its projects over the last 15+ years. As a Guardian ad Litem in Miami-Dade County for the past 17 years, I can truly appreciate all that Voices For Children Foundation has done for the abused, abandoned and neglected children in our community. As a reputable charity for over 25 years, Voices holds wonderful events such as their signature Be A Voice Gala, and their Be A Voice awards luncheon to raise awareness and funds for this valuable and much needed cause.

Friends puts on the best booksale in South Florida! They are continously championing for Miami's public library's. Events and resources at the libraries are superb. Friends' dollars go directly into the library system. From literacy to rare books and art exhibits- Friends and the library should be praised!

This organization really wants to "Save The Music". They are amazing. They gave a free workshop and concert to raise money for a school of music that will allow children and adults who would not be able to afford this. I hope they keep up the good work!
