Kirkland Nonprofits and Charities

I’ve had such a positive experience working with the Kirkland Community Foundation to support local nonprofits right here in Kirkland. Whether I give through their annual Ignite Kirkland campaign or through their community impact funds, I know every dollar stays local and strengthens the community we call home. What stands out most is how trusted, knowledgeable, and deeply connected this organization is. They truly understand our community’s needs and make it easy to support the causes that matter—neighbors helping neighbors, youth and families thriving, parks and arts programs growing, and a stronger Kirkland for everyone. If you live, work, or play in Kirkland, I can’t recommend the Kirkland Community Foundation enough. It’s a meaningful way to invest in our city and see real impact every day. Highly recommend!

There has been significant issues with the Executive Director at IRespond Global. I have found him to be dishonest on several occasions. This behavior undermines trust and affects the organization’s credibility. There is a negative review on Glassdoor from his previous company called Iomedex as well which seems to be a common theme. Just be careful and cautious.

We are lifetime pet owners and went in to adopt a cat from this organization. These women proceeded to make us fill out an application which we did and was approved. One of the ladies interviewed us and formed a judgement that we were not fit to adopt a cat which is absolutely ridiculous. They were using questions we had of them against us when we wanted to adopt of their cats and have many edicts on which cat can be adopted and with which cat must be adopted with them. It was a terrible experience all around with the staff more interested in profiling its prospective cat owners than actually finding homes for their cats.

My wife Penny is the Director and Founder of the non profit Oregon Tiger Sanctuary and I am the Director of Veterinary Services. Our exotic veterinarian is one of the best veterinarians in the world and she has been the Medical Director of the Washington Ferret Association for many years. The Washington Ferret Association is an excellent facility caring for many ferrets with high quality veterinary care, husbandry, and love. We strongly support the work that they do and the contribution they make to the welfare of these precious ferrets. Thank you very much to everyone who supports the Washington Ferret Association in any way.

The day we left the hospital with our daughter Karsen, was filled with joy and worry. Our perfect little girl had failed all three of her newborn hearing screens. While we waited for our first BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response Test) about a month later - we counted fingers and toes and the number of diapers a day like all parents, but we also counted each and every time she didn’t react to a loud noise like those coming from her 3 year old brother. <br><br>That first test came back indicating Karsen had normal hearing. But at 18 months she still wasn’t talking and when Grandpa called for her quietly while walking behind her up our driveway, she didn’t turn around. Our friends told us not to worry, the second child always talks later. Daycare said, don’t worry, she is following instructions. But after traditional speech therapy did not yield results - we repeated the BAER. Deep down we weren’t surprised, Karsen had moderate to moderately severe hearing loss in both ears. Suddenly, we were faced with a multitude of decisions. Would we learn sign language or would Karsen be able to speak? What type of technology was available for kids with hearing loss? Most importantly- what would this mean for Karsen for the rest of her life?<br><br>It was at this point when Listen and Talk entered our lives. Listen and Talk is a Kirkland-based non-profit organization that provides programs for deaf and hearing impaired children so that they can reach their full language and learning potential. Their vision is that no child is limited by hearing loss. Their birth to 3-year-old program focused on listening and spoken language and the pre-school was designed to help not only Karsen, but also my husband and I as we learned what we needed to support Karsen. <br><br>Their programs steer the course for children, like Karsen, to move into mainstream schools and to compete and succeed side-by-side with their classmates who have hearing. And that is just what she is doing today in fifth grade. Academically, she’s in the highly capable program, excelling in reading, math and taking on leadership roles both in her classroom and school wide. Outside the classroom she competes competitively in soccer and even rides in a unicycle club - teaching coaches how to use her DM system so she can get the same instruction as her peers. PLEASE STOP SUPPORTING and SENDING DONATIONS to this Organization, they are NOT helping the Poor, nor the homeless; they are Pocketing that Money for themselves!!! They had Negative Reviews and they are Such RATS that they Paid GOOGLE for people to Not be able to leave Reviews against them because they know that if they Truth Comes Out ; they wouldn't be Getting HEFTY DONATIONS that they Do Not Use to help ANYONE, but themselves!!! PLEASE BELIEVE ME. They make the DISABLED & HANDICAP PAY with their Small Disability Checks for Repairs in the apartments, and they do all kinds of tricks to abuse those who are disabled. <br>

As a primarily volunteer run organization, Eastside Audubon is filled with passionate community organizers, advocates, educators, and conservationists all dedicated to the protection of birds and the natural spaces they need to survive. Their long-time commitment to habitat restoration projects, dedication to youth education and outreach, and advocacy work on behalf of birds and wildlife in east King County is commendable.

Baby steps is a much needed organization in a pivotal time of Seattles history that has created great prosperity for some but also great poverty for others. Baby steps is great organization that stands to bridge the widening gap between the haves and have nots in order to enrich all parties involved.

Several years ago I had the good fortune of finding GGB through a site called Volunteer Match. I had volunteered for other non profit organizations but needed to find something with more <br> flexibility due to my new role as a Mom. I've watched this organization grow and change and while I am not currently involved with them, I can only say positive things about them. I've had the opportunity to work with them in various capacities; everything from fundraising events to hands-on renovations. Teresa has always been great about letting me try different roles within the organization.<br>The tribe of people that she has supporting her mission is quite impressive and speaks volumes about her as a person. What I appreciate the most about her is her tenacity. This woman never gives up. She's living proof that if there is a will, there is a way! To anyone looking for a way to support their community (weather it be through donations or time), I HIGHLY recommend GGB!

Residence XII saved my life. I have not had a drink in over 11 years and feel blessed beyond measure. Not only did they teach me how to live without alcohol, they taught me how to live life on life's terms. They did it with compassion , sensitivity to women's needs, education and support for me and my family. I was able to recover in a safe environment. I was fortunate enough to have insurance that covered all of my expenses. I donate whatever I can afford every year with the hope that women who are less fortunate will be given a second chance, not to mention their families.

Can't tell you enough how much I appreciate this place both as a consumer and a volunteer. I deeply appreciate the commitment the KAC staff has to REALLY making art (in all its forms) accessible to everyone. The gallery is free, and works hard to feature local artists, as well as exhibits that highlight issues/ topics relevant to our community. Scholarships are available for classes, and they truly do attempt to make art education accessible and affordable to anyone who wants it. In my experience, they are also interested in connecting with other community organizations and open to finding creative ways to support community works of all kinds.

Interesting that all the positive reviews for WWIN on here come from board members and volunteers, none from clients who have been helped by WWIN--or *attempted* to get help from them. I applied for a health care gap grant for a root canal from WWIN. Staff jerked me around for two months, even flat-out lying to me at times. I called a couple of times to ask questions about the application process, and I felt they just made up stuff to say to get me off the phone or to get me to go away. Apparently they just make up rules as they go along to justify their shady dealings with people. In the end, I got no help. Just a waste of my time and a two-month delay in treatment for an active tooth infection. If anyone else has had similar problems with them, please let me know. I'm trained as a paralegal and I will be taking legal action against them.

This organization quietly serves the homeless population in the greater Seattle area - providing food, clothing, and personal care items to those in need. I've personally seen their work, donated to their cause, and met the volunteers and founder, Tricia Lapitan. They are an astoundingly compassionate group of people. None are paid. What you give goes to direct aid to the homeless. I can't recommend them enough. They TRULY are heroes. Please help them continue to give.

Hardly anything is more important than children's education. Children's Music Foundation (CMF) has been serving young children by offering a fully-developed music program that can be easily used in classrooms. It gives useful tools to music teachers while it can be successfully and easily used by teachers who are not trained in music. This is important because in a financial crunch, music is often eliminated from school. How sad! What I like about the CMF's program, First Note, is that it does more than bringing music education to classrooms. It brings fun. It teaches children how fun it is to learn although they may not be aware they are learning a lot more than singing and dancing. Music does a lot for brain development in any age but particularly young age. In a long run, children who learned early on that learning is fun stay in school. CMF is helping schools keep music in classrooms and children have fun in learning!

Great organization working to support research and events . really the only source of hope for many individuals living with muscular dystrophy. <br> <br>FSHD takes it all except hope! <br> <br>keep the dream alive guys..

I have been a donor, volunteer and staff member of Friends of Youth beginning in 1996. This organization always puts the needs of the youth and families they serve first and foremost in their organizational values and in practice. They consistently hire knowledgeable and caring staff who go above and beyond to offer the best and most meaningful service to their clients.

This Thrift Shop does amazing work. Bring all your gently used clothing & household goods here, and the proceeds go directly back to the neighborhood. The Thrift Shop has a wide selection and some real treasures. The prices are reasonable, and the inventory changes frequently. Check out the sales!

Indian American Education Foundation is a grassroots, all volunteer organization with no paid employees or infrastructure. The organization has supported thousands of children with disabilities in India. Disabled people in India are the most marginalized members of the society and especially children have no hope other than whatever education can provide them. They can learn some basic skills depending upon their type and level of disability and even become self-reliant and gain self-esteem as human beings. With their limited resources, IAEF has been making a difference in the lives of these poor children.
