one of my fav places to volunteer especially as a teen. it feels good knowing that im helping an org thats so passionate about what they do and i feel even bette knowing im making a positive different

I first found out about Atlanta Drum Academy when I saw them on America's Got talent!! They brought a smile to my face and entertained me with their impeccable performance. I am so impressed with the talent and poise that these children possess. I look forward to seeing them perform again.

Historically this all-volunteer nonprofit raised funds for library programs and services by holding sales of used books. However, due to a reorganization of the library space used for these sales, these sales stopped at the end of 2017. In 2018 and 2019 the Friends of the Library (FOL) funded, staffed, and sponsored a total of 10 summer programs that featured professional performers for local children with a total attendance of 2,211. Unfortunately, the pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 series. The FOL plans to sponsor community programs again in the summer of 2022, in addition to supporting selected local literacy projects throughout the year. I cannot find the office anymore and the phone number is disconnected but I want to say that we need more places like this again. This lady name Christina Richerson gave me food and furniture. I lost my apt and my job, got on drugs and then the State took my kids. I met her at Fulton County Jail in November of 2002. She came to visit me and brought another lady with her to help me. They both went to court and told the Judge that I would be staying with her in her program. I got released and stayed in an apt that she owned for one year. I was able to get my own place, visit with my children and stopped using drugs for good. In 2004 I finally got my children back. This lady Christina was an angel for us, she is wonderful person I wish I could find her again just to thank her and hug. All of kids went to college and I have been clean since 2002. I loved this program. Wherever she is, may God bless her like she blessed me.

Great organization. They are always on time with the most relevant and inspiring programs.

I have volunteered at their paws for spegetti every year for several years and have taken animals to them rather than the county shelter. They have a small facility and need help to grow. I talk positive about them and their function in our area. Our church supports their efforts as well.

Brother Wesley, has the heart,the energy,and He is definitly motivated in serving his community.I only wish I could keep up with him. The time I spent as a volunteer, I witnessed a love, and compassion that truly impacted the youth that he was in charge of. I was truly Blessed to have been a part of it. Harry O'Brien

As a long time strategic energy analyst, the search for clean low cost energy to restore our economy and environment has been wandering in the desert for decades. Wind power and rooftop solar are intermittent with no cost effective way to convert these oft-mentioned energy alternatives to baseload, dispatchable grid-type power. Nuclear suffers from cost, proliferation, competition for water and safety issues. Oil and even liquid alternatives, like biofuels, are expected to peak this decade and continue lurching higher in price. <br>OIl and gas are scraping the bottom of the barrel (fracking). <br>The Space Solar Power Institute, a 501(c)3 non-profit, has been studying a new baseload clean low cost energy since at their workshop at http://sspi.gatech.edu/ <br>Space Solar Power (SSP) is dispatchable. It uses none of our increasingly scarce fresh water resources. It taps the sun directly in high orbit. Their suggestion to overcome SSP's daunting initial cost appears to follow a well proven path. Just as Congress chartered Comsat Corp in 1962 and built our successful communications satellite industry, so Congress could now charter Sunsat Corp to build a power satellite industry. Japan’s USEF consortium has begun just this process with a budgeted $2 Trillion yen (~US $24 Billion) to kick-start an SSP prototype by 2025. They expect to be able to provide SSP electricity to customers at eight yen (nine cents) per kilowatt-hour, six times cheaper than its 2010 cost in Japan.
