I have been wanting to be a volunteer at a cat shelter for so long. After I graduated high school I looked for places that I could volunteer. And AWL came up as the first one and was close to get to. I still remember the first day I went to go look at the place. It was a very busy Saturday, but everything was run very smoothly and everyone welcomed me with open arms. And the house is such a fun and interactive experience that is unique to AWL. Now I am 20 and have so much more experience. I have seen everything that goes into this. It is truly amazing to see everything unfold. Watching and being apart of a community that loves cat/animals in general come together. Is so wholesome and everyone truly has a heart of gold and cares so deeply about these cats. I am so glad that AWL came up for me! I couldn’t have asked for a better place than AWL! 😸

Booking a day/time to volunteer was easy online and buying items to donate in advance and then packing items for foster children was a perfect way to introduce my young children to volunteerism. I always recommend Comfort Cases to organizations as a great team-building activity that has a positive impact.

I have been working with IFA for years and nothing but good things to say about their organization. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to get their financial affairs in order, plan for retirement or create an estate plan.

Islamic Center of Maryland has bee helping me and my family with food and clothing for years.<br>We appreciate the great job by these dedicated brothers and sisters for their selfless services in weather conditions. Our family LOVES Abada Capoeira! Mastranda Yara is nothing short of amazing with our 6yo son. She is patient, approachable, passionate and disciplined. Our son has gained confidence, coordination, friendships and community through Abada Capoeira. They focu on the techniques of Capoeira, but also learn musical instruments, songs, Brazilian Portuguese language, and so much more. Thank you Yara!!

This charity has done amazing work to improve the ability of medical researchers to make use of modern non-animal drug testing. Without their influence and advice, the FDA Modernization Act might not even have been passed. I heartily recommend their work and am grateful for their ongoing accomplishments!

Having lived in Montgomery county for most of my life, I have encountered multiple animals that have been injured. Each time I have taken them to Second Chance Wildlife Center, and had wonderful experiences. Every time they have either taken the animal themselves and helped heal them or have given me info on where to take the animal, so the other location can provide proper care. The staff has been kind, and the facility seems to be well managed and clean. I have heard recently that they are building a new facility and it will be a great help in continuing to provide amazing care and possibly even allow them to save more animals.

I have been involved in the International College of Dentists USA Section Foundation for many years. I support this foundation with both donations of time and treasure. This foundation is well organized and its Leadership is committed to its Mission, Vision and Goals which focuses on supporting and promoting educational, scientific, literary, and humanitarian efforts in the USA and abroad. Grants are primarily awarded to projects that will provide the greatest impact to those who have demonstrated humanitarian need. Projects involve oral health education and much needed dental treatment to those who cannot access or afford the dental care they need and deserve. In this way, the ICDF is helping to make oral health better both domestically and internationally .

Great organization for county and government employees who wish to get sound financial advice. Mr. Jonathon Lee is outstanding in his knowledge and his ability to explain complex tax issues and the tax law.

Senecorps custom-tailored my 2007 visit to Senegal I learned more about culture than is written in scholarly works because I listened and observed what was being shown to me. They gave me individual tours to the historic sites I requested, treated me like family, and made my research trip there more productive than I expected. They are skilled teachers of Senegals' multi-ethnic past and contemporary global influence.

I'm passionate about healthcare, and was excited to find greatnonprofits. I really appreciate what MHC is doing for uninsured residents: they have such a comprehensive number of services, ranging from patient medicine management to patient education. The range of volunteer options is also great! They have open positions for both doctors/individuals with scientific backgrounds, and volunteers who can help with communications/marketing/data entry. It's fantastic! Please keep doing what you are doing, MHC!

I was unemployed and waiting on my disability which takes a long time. I live in Montgomery Village as a resident and when I called for help they jumped in to help me and my husband with meals that helped so so much they are a great organization that helps the community they serve.

They are a wonderful Nonprofit to help people who are looking for housing in the DC metro area which has some of the highest rents in the US. They also offer many options for people with low to moderate income. They are so very few of these types of organizations in the DC metro area. They truly care for there tenants and there well being. Most of the community owned my MHP have been renovated to give tenants a nice home and a great place to call home.

If you don't know Chris, you are missing out. He is the most humble person you will ever meet. He will pass the glory to everyone else and pretend he has nothing to do with the organization. This is a man that had endured more tragedy than anyone should ever. Their events are amazing. Wendy who is not even a veteran has dedicated so much time to this event to make sure every veteran feels special.

I was invited to join The Dwelling Place by a former client and board member in 2013 . The staff and fellow board members are absolute professionals. Everyone works for hard for the families and based on the smiles that I've seen, the results are worth it. The work involved with running this organization is challenging and exciting. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Orphanage , Christmas gifts for kids and stage renovation in the Philippines

AFCECO is an Afghan registered Non-Profit, that is funded through Charity Help International here in the United States. AFCECO's mission is to educate Afghan leaders of tomorrow through placement in orphanages that stress tolerance and equality for all.<br /> My association with AFCECO goes back to 2005, when I chose a young girl named Pashtana from a photo of children needing sponsors in war torn Afghanistan. <br /> Pashtana and her younger siblings had roamed the alleyways of Peshawar selling water in order to earn money for their family. Her father had been captured by a Jehadi war faction and murdered. When AFCECO founder Andeisha Farid visited the refugee camp in which Pashtana was living, she was chosen for the child sponsorship program. I loved Pashtana the moment I saw her photo.<br /> Eleven years later, Pashtana and I now have the longest sponsor/child relationship in the organization, although she is no longer a child. Through AFCECO she has matured into a university educated, amazing woman. Being part of her life has been one of the most wonderful experiences I have ever had.<br /> In 2011, she and I actually met. Very few child sponsors ever get to meet their child. But, Pashtana actually spent several days at my home in Seattle. It was a dream that came true for both of us.<br /> In 2014, Pashtana was named Chief Operations Manager for AFCECO. She travelled with AFCECO music students to Europe, the Middle East, Turkmenistan and Turkey. This past summer, she was chosen to become the Executive Director of AFCECO. What an amazing journey from street child to business executive! What a thrill for me to have had a small part in that journey!<br /> Over time, I have also had the pleasure of helping in other ways. I have sent books for a new library, money for a new van, and money to move the orphanage in Kabul to a safer location. My daughter has gotten involved and has sponsored several children ' including Pashtana's younger sister. And, I have also sponsored several additional children myself.<br /> My daughter and I have both discovered that much greater rewards come from helping others than from purchasing 'things' for yourself. <br /> <br />

The Sodexo Foundation helps raise money and distribute it to people and organizations who help fight childhood hunger in America. It's a GREAT organization that does INCREDIBLE work and really makes a difference. Check them out ...

CFTC helped me with my rent when I was undergoing treatment for breast cancer and was unable to continue working. Don't know what I would have done without their help. Their support and advise was very helpful at a time when my life was so crazy.

Great Organization. Helped a lot to the families that they need it. I wish there were more organization like this. I know that they made huge different in our lifes when they accepted my son. I have been with them more than 4 years. I like the administration and how they run the organization. The staff are knowledgable and trained. My highs regard to Ms. Susan Ingram. House with a Heart Senior Pet Sanctuary is truly a personal place. This sanctuary for senior dogs and cats is located in a home on 2 acres of ground. The whole house is dedicated to the dogs and cats, with special doggie doors at all of the exits, ramps to help the senior dogs get down, and outside play areas filled with plenty of room to run and play. Sher commits herself 24/7 to the needs and love of the pups and cats, along with the volunteers who come on a daily basis to help. Guardian Angel volunteers give the 20 plus resident senior dogs and 3 resident senior cats special attention, as do visitors to HWAH. The warm and friendly atmosphere keeps our short term foster dogs and owners both coming back with smiles. It is truly special to see someone living their dream, knowing the dream is to help others.

The bereavement support group provided me by Hospice Caring was absolutely wonderful and a huge, huge help. I have the greatest respect for this organization.

I played softball my entire youth and teen years and was delighted when I was asked by the organization to manage their social media presence. The organization truly cares about girls' youth sports and has a true passion for helping young girls feel empowered through sports.

Perseus Magic was a thief of hearts and a very mischievous canine companion. When he was first diagnosed with cancer, I engaged the internet in search of that magical piece of information that would allow me to save him. Our non profit organization, The Perseus Foundation (http://perseusfoundation.org) was established fourteen years ago in loving memory of Perseus Magic. Through the years, it has inspired others to establish organizations that also seek to either 1) provide financial assistance to pet owners who could not afford treatment otherwise, 2) raise greater awareness of comparative oncology, 3) raise funds for research to benefit animals, as ultimately, this will also benefit human oncology, 4) become powerhouses of information. <br> <br>When I sit in front of my computer to update content in Spanish and English (and soon in French!) I realize that the foundation is a tapestry of stories intermingled with cutting edge information. Laurie, through the Magic Bullet, interacts daily with pet parents desperate to get financial assistance, veterinary oncologists who are dedicated to the care of their cancer patients and visitors in general who are seeking information. Our programs are innovative, such as Pets and Pals, matching a child undergoing cancer treatment with a dog that has also fought cancer; Tag Along where one of our volunteers goes with a pet parent for a visit with the veterinary oncologist, and finally our Perseus and the Arts-- to be launched in Fall 2013.
