Our son fought a 5 year battle with Hodgekin's Disease and Camp Sunshine was there through all of it and beyond. They provided him a place to spend time with other teens who were battling the same disease and its side effects. Beyond that, they had wonderful day and evening programs throughout the year where camp friends from across the state could renew their friendships and catch up. They also had wonderful away programs like rafting trips, Outward Bound trips and trips to Washington, DC. He didn't make all of them, being too sick some of the time, but those he did make created memories beyond compare. When he died, many of his Camp Sunshine friends flooded into the funeral home, sharing memories and helping bare the burden of his loss. Then at his funeral they offered their own brand of comfort and encouragement both to other teens, to his family and to themselves. Later, when we were ready, we participated in a "Remember the Sunshine" weekend for parents whose children had died and once again were engulfed with the love and caring that make this a stellar organization.

The mission of this organization is noteworthy and laudable. The programs and services are very necessary and performed in an exemplary fashion. The staff is extremely small in size and their quality of work is excellent. ISDD's Executive Director is a remarkable and highly talented leader. I highly recommend this organization to anyone interested in supporting the work of an organization doing much to improve the quality of life for extremely vulnerable children and families.

CORE embodies its name. CORE has been at the center of dance in our arts community for longer than I have lived or danced in Atlanta. It has been a strong and steady constant that keeps our dance community connected and alive in the south, a place that is not always uplifting the arts as it should.<br><br>I feel incredibly lucky to work for this organization and provide a small part of the greater good that CORE exhibits to our neighbors, dance community, and patrons.<br><br>-Rose Caudle

I was first introduced to Doctors for Global Health (DGH) as one of the most transparent organizations in the realm of health and human rights. And it absolutely is. <br>It is entirely run by a dedicated team of volunteers committed to promoting health for all and challenging socio, political injustices. Having just begun working on the board, I am already hugely inspired by the fabulous team and their tremendous efforts.

I first started volunteering 2008 as a photographer. During this time I always noticed how caring and patient the founder and others were. This is the reason I have continued to volunteer each year. Even though I was volunteering I also learned a lot about myself and issues I had not dealt with. Sometimes it was difficult but in the end it was always worth the effort.

Being a part of AWEC has been a rewarding experience for me. There is such a need to empower women to make a difference in the African Diaspora and on the continent of Africa. It is an opportunity for these women to bring their dreams and goals to fruition. Dr. Uwa Simiri has done a phenomenal job bringing women together on both sides of the Atlantic ocean. She has a way to inspire, motivate and lift up women who had put their entrepreneurial aspirations on the back burner. I look forward to moving my business forward working with other women with similar ideas. I was a Graduate of Certified Nursing Assistant class 1/2010. Love the Instructors, they made learning awesome and fun. This agency has a temporary low profile. However their impact to homeless families with no, low and moderate income far exceeds their profile. Many women with children as well as individuals have utilized their many programs have achieved their goals of stable housing. They are the leading homelessness solutions provider in the DeKalb county area. The dollars generated through donor sponsorship are maximized to provide the most impact to those who really need it versus being consumed for operational support. This organization is definitely one of the best if not the best in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area.

The volunteers of ISFA really helped my company by provided needed training in the area of Student Financial Aid programs and management requirements. Federal regulations have been changing drastically over the years. It is nice to know that there is a source out there that has timely information and knowledge about federal programs.

I've volunteered at Gospel of Faith Worship Center for a few years. I really like the fact that Gospel of Faith desires to empower the community around them. They have free tutoring for elementary, middle and high school students, as well as, college students. This is a wonderful organization to volunteer with if you want to help empower students. Volunteering at this clinic has been such a pleasure. Physician's Care Clinic (PCC) comprises a group of dedicated physicians and medical staff that understand the necessity of medical care in their community and what it takes to achieve a functional safety net to those in need. I believe that a cohesive community must be fostered by its most privileged members and, if done correctly, those with influence can make life better for all their less-fortunate neighbors. This is the case for the kind and capable physician leaders that formed PCC as an outreach program of the DeKalb Medical Society. They uphold the same standard of medical care in their volunteer time as in their professional practices. Their DeKalb-resident patients are grateful to have the services of PCC!... and I am happy to be counted among the volunteers at this special organization.

This wonderful organization has a stellar reputation for being a friendly and safe means of free transportation for senior citizens in DeKalb County, Georgia. Volunteer drivers use their on vehicle to drive clients to their medical, dental, and clinic appointments. The drivers also provide companionship for the seniors..This agency has been providing these services since 1998. A remarkable organization in DeKalb County, Georgia. <br>.

I have been a thrift store shopper all my life and I am 45 years old. I am from NYC but I currently live in Cobb County and I am a resident of Marietta Georgia. <br> <br>I was pleased to find so many Goodwill locations in my surrounding area but displeased with their prices and the manner of how they price mark the items. If the item is a brand that the employees know is high end they mark the price up extremely high. The clothing is priced starting at $7 and up and this is before taxes. There is no consistency with their pricing as I have found two identical items mark with different prices. <br> <br>At this time I no longer afford to shop at the GW. I have resumed my yard and estate sale shopping instead. <br>

The Community School is an outstanding school for children on the autism spectrum. The staff is dedicated, caring, helpful, friendly, and a joy to be around. They work tirelessly to help these wonderful children and young adults learn in a safe and pleasant environment. The staff know and care about the special challenges each child faces. Each child has an individual plan for their learning and instruction. Besides the basic classes, each child may pick a special subject they are interested in to study. They have one on one classes for the children as well as classes to provide interaction with other students. The children have PE every day which I think is very important for all students. Thursdays are devoted to learning and helping the children through physical activities to promote peer interaction and help with motor skills. They have family days to encourage participation with the students, staff and family members. My grandson goes to TCS and I thoroughly enjoy the outings. I have never seen such great family participation and friendliness. Family day usually ends with a lunch that everyone contributes to. The food is delicious and a real treat. The school has several functions to help raise funds to keep tuition costs as low as possible. TCS' 3d Annual Southern Soiree and Auction will be held on February 7, 2014, in Decatur, GA. I encourage all to attend. My family attended last year and had a wonderful time. There is delicious food and drinks to enjoy, dancing to a band, and an opportunity to help the school raise funds by donating and bidding on items. There are so many great items to bid on -- from vacations to sports tickets and home made arts and crafts to name just a few. There are items autographed by favorite professional sports players. There aren't enough words to explain what a great school this is and the wonderful opportunities it provides to help get the students ready for the real world. It is such a comfort to know my grandson has a great school to attend where his needs are met and that he is not just one of many students being overlooked in a large classroom. I highly recommend the school, staff, and Director, Dave Nelson, and commend them for the wonderful job they are doing. DEAM does tremendous work helping prevent hunger and homelessness in the Decatur / Dekalb area. DEAM has a food bank, a clothing closet, and they provide emergency funds to help keep families in their homes, on their medications, and current with their utility bills. Local churches provide much of the food and clothing, but we need more money to help prevent homelessness and keep people out of the local emergency rooms due to skipping medications. It is so sad when a grandmother has to choose between her meds and feeding her grandchildren.

I had the privilege of watching this group in action in downtown Atlanta. There are alot of organizations who will come to provide food and clothes but this organization took it a step further, the volunteers were playing with the kids, talking/encouraging the adults and creative an oasis for those who were hungry and homeless. On top of that, this was a group of beautiful (inside and out) young men and women who clearly had other options for the weekend but they chose to serve others. I was blown away

I've just been introduced to the school, and after met all of the girls I felt compelled to contribute information that another volunteer, Caroline Grimes, has written: "The Global Village School educates young female refugees from countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Burma, Somalia, Sudan, and the Congo.These girls, aged 12-20, have all landed in Atlanta from various war-torn countries. Many come from countries where females are held in low regard and are not provided even the most basic rights or education. <br> <br>All of these girls are victims of the violence of war; some have seen <br>close family members brutally killed and have difficult memories to <br>contend with, along with the adjustment to life in a very different <br>society. Some have spent many years in refugee camps with poor <br>surroundings and primitive education. The people running The Global <br>Village School are committed to helping these young women find peace within themselves and the skills and confidence needed to integrate into society. All students must learn English, as well as being <br>brought up to an appropriate level of education for their ages. <br> <br>Educational backgrounds are widely variant and unrelated to their age. <br>The Staff of teachers is highly qualified and committed to providing <br>the substantive education needed, and the co-curricular portions of <br>the school help the girls balance their social and emotional growth <br>with the educational growth." <br>

I am proud to donate both money and my time to this wonderful agency. They help women and children who are foreign-born and have been victims of domestic violence. How difficult it must be to not speak English and be unable to express the abuse you go thru in your homes. This shelter has many bi-lingual and tri-lingual staff that helps women feel comfortable in a shelter setting. It's a warm place with good people trying to help others.
