I have had the wonderful opportunity of volunteering with Shoes That Fit at a shoe distribution event with my organization. It was such a rewarding experience to be able to participate! The energy is so high, and the kids are sooo excited to see their new shoes. I definitely recommend donating or working with this amazing org.

This morning, I sent a text message to this organization, removing my name from adoption process of a dog that I was working on adopting due to lack of communication and gut feelings. Unfortunately, I was correct and these people are not kind. Instead of apologizing and thanking me for my time I got a nasty text back talking about how I showed my true colors. I explained myself further and then I got back several text messages that were Rude. Accusing me of bitching and calling me nasty then proclaiming that I should not try to interact again because I was being blocked? There were several parts of this adoption process that seemed sketchy to me and because I called them on it instead I was the problem. I would not recommend this Rescue. Especially after reading other complaints in different reviews, including the Better Business Bureau that were pretty much the same as my experience. This is not how kindness and charity is supposed to be dealt with.

Crossroads provides incredible support for their clients, helping them to develop a positive, healthy pathway to long term success and to become thriving members of their community. Bravo!! Thank you for all you do for these women!

OJP always has quality productions, some thought provoking, some plain fun friendly, customer service oriented. Also a mix of productions that are known and some unknown by unknown play writes, very interesting. <br>There are other types of events there as well, something for everyone. Being involved on the Board has helped me to expand my taste and interests!

Helping community to bond together and help the needy

Children's Foundation of America is a completely volunteer-staffed organization which raises funds and hosts events for abused, neglected and trauma-affected children living in foster care, residential treatment and mental health placements. Their Mission is to provide everyone with an opportunity to help chidren heal, learn and thrive!<br>This organization, centered in Claremont Village, regularly hosts volunteer events in their offices, putting together care packages for children, creating cards, making blankets and other fun events that bring community together in support of children in crisis. Get involved!

I've been listening to the wonderfully captivating Bible teacher, J. Vernon McGee off and on for 36 years. I own his entire set of hardbound Bible Commentaries and his entire 5 year teaching on MP3! I can't get enough of his wonderfully deep yet simple and homey Bible teaching. Lately I've been listening every morning on KFAX via I Heart radio app. I've been struck by the thought that he is like the Grandfather I never had and would want: Godly, full of wisdom and practical advice, loving, funny and approachable. The Prison Library Project is a GREAT organization! It sends hundreds of free books to prison inmates every week. As a formerly incarcerated person myself, I know what a lifeline books can be to those in prison. Most books are donated and all mail processing, book selection, wrapping, etc., is done by volunteers. Proceeds from their used bookstore (a treasure in itself!) are used for postage, supplies, and to purchase specialty books where donations can't keep up with demand (like dictionaries).

CCSM awarded me a scholarship to study years ago in grade school. For this reason, I was able to continue my studies and pursue a college degree in music. I now enjoy the success of a being a working musician - doing what I love! Thank you CCSM.

I am constantly amazed and gratified by the variety of music that this community chorus presents and the quality of the presentations. It's refreshing to support a chorus that doesn't always play it safe by presenting only "old chestnuts," but also premiers new works, explores different interpretations of styles over time, and often mixes genres within a single concert. This is a chorale that presents the music straight up without elaborate staging or costuming, allowing the listener to pay attention to and understand the music itself without superficial distractions.

Regional performing arts organizations are chronically under-funded and under-resourced. Vineyard Touring Opera has exceptional dedication to the people it serves, whether they be audiences who find opera inaccessible or unaffordable, or performers eager to develop their skills. <br> <br>To raise community awareness, and again, bring opera to the people -- "opera per tutti" -- VTO commissioned a new work, which will premiere next season, based on historic events in Los Angeles in the 1920's. VTO maintains an admission price of $10 general, $5 student/senior for a full production with professional orchestra and supertitles. The company explores innovative presentation styles to build audiences for opera. It has reached out to other local organizations to cooperate in auditions and publicity, resulting in the Southern California Opera Network. <br> <br>Under the direction of Alan Medak, participants in VTO's productions are placed in meaningful and rewarding positions that recognize what they do well and allow them to grow. Young and developing singers are cast opposite mature performers and benefit from mentoring during the rehearsal process. A scholarship fund in memory of Co-Founder Douglas Acker has been established to aid young professionals with coaching or travel expenses. <br> <br>In short, besides offering exciting performances of great works, Vineyard Touring Opera truly enriches the artistic community of Los Angeles.

Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden (RSABG) is a 40-year-old repository of California native plants, artfully maintained over several acres, and includes teaching facilities and plant propagation and sales. The Garden is the laboratory for the graduate program in Botany at Claremont Graduate School, and is a tremendous resource for the entire community. RSABG effectively educates the public about the beauty and wisdom of native plants as a way to restore and build the ecology of Southern California.

This nonprofit works to not only provide children with the necessities to survive and thrive but to educate the adults in their life. AOC facilitates a sponsorship program in Ethiopia that provides a child with food, school uniform, school books and supplies, and medical supplies. The caregivers of these children participate in an educational program on how to care for themselves and their children and be active members of society. I am proud to sponsor a child as well as participate as a board member/volunteer.

I have been volunteer for 5 years and watched this organization flounder for the last two years. In that time they have hired 4 different law firms, had 300% turnover among dog training staff, paid over $100,000 in legal and court fees, been late filing their 990's, filed a lawsuit against thier puppy raising volunteers and not placed a single guide dog since August 2007.
