My best friend of 11 years passed away 6 weeks ago do to a gross error of not communicating with me about the condition of my dog. The morning he died, I sent a video showing his condition as he had developed kennel cough. Never heard back and Rango died in my arms in the late afternoon. I was devastated and heartbroken. I am ready now to adopt another dog and filled out an application with Forever Home Dog Rescue in Seattle Wa. The unbelievable amount of questions made me feel like a job application. The puppy was less than a year old. I own 13 acres of land, am active outdoors and love walks and hikes. Rango flourished because of this. My response from this agency disqualified me as unfit to adopt a puppy because in foster home, he was a "couch potato" was fearful and didn't prefer anything else. I couldn't believe what I was reading. Apparently, a happy and active lifestyle for a healthy happy dog wasn't a qualifying factor. I feel discriminated against because I cant offer a sedentary lifestyle that they think a 12 month old puppy prefers it. I'm so disappointed. Their responses were condescending and insulting given I had owned my chihuahua for 11 years, with full vet records. Given this very unfortunate experience, I've decided not to adopt from organizations with these kind of practices. And if you are a hopeful adopter with my qualifications, don't bother...or just say yes to all their questions and jump through the necessary hoops with the hope you get chosen.
