Athens Photo Project is a wonderful creative community making a significant difference in many lives and the Athens community.

ARTS/West and the friendly people who tirelessly work to make it a special community space have enriched my life in many ways. I have taken classes, offered classes, performed and enjoyed performances, savored art — and found great bargains in used clothes and exotica! I have grown, and I have seen others grow, in its nurturing environment. I am very grateful to have this wonderful community resource in my town.

You might think that as a board member that I'd be biased in favor of the AACA, you're right. I am. I am biased in their favor because they cared enough to seek out artists and administrators from every art and cultural entity in this region and to include them as members on their board, to listen to their input, to have their future guided by those on the front lines, that they pound the pavement putting out listings of events for both tourists and locals, that they created a website that became the regional go to site to both post and to see whats happening in our area, that they create community collaborations and events. I think I'd love them even if not on their board. Their dedication & determination has resulted in increased tourism, participation and awareness in the arts. I also run a nonprofit arts studio and they serve us well!

FANTASTIC dance classes! My daughter loves Factory Street so much she takes ballet, modern, hip hop, tap AND Jazz every week! 5 Stars!!

La Societe des Quarant Hommes et Huit Chevaux is French. In English it means "The Society of Forty Men or Eight Horses". La Societe is an American veterans organization formed in Paris, France, in 1920 at the end of World War I. We are ninety-three years old with many local chapters in every state in the union, and overseas in Germany, France, The Philipines, and Mexico among others. Our international headquarters are located in Indianapolis, Indiana, across the street from the American Legion. We used to be brother organizations but times change. <br> <br>My particular "locale" or "Voiture" is Portland Voiture 25, Portland, Oregon, formed in 1924. At one time we had over five hundred members but time and declining health have reduced our number to twenty. We are trying to recruit new, younger members and welcome all eligible vetrerans, male and female, honorably discharged or currently active. Ours is the "fun" organization with laughter and camraderie at every "promenade" (meeting) and numerous civic events where we proudly represent veterans from all branches. Our special attraction is a 1910 Renault Paris taxi that we drive in parades and display in public. It is an authentic "Taxi de la Marne" that took French troops to the front in 1914 in "The Charge of the Marne Taxis". We would eagerly welcome you to check us out and consider membership. I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at Raccoon Creek. The drive out there was beautiful, the land itself and water are absolutely stunning, and I loved interacting with both the kids and the other volunteers. I'm an environmental studies student, and this volunteer opportunity gave me invaluable experience. The nature programs are very well developed, the kids are actually out in nature and not crammed in some classroom. Plenty of activities involving wildlife and other things kids find fascinating is a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all involved! I definitely hope to do more important work with Raccoon Creek in the near future.

The Dairy Barn is a jewel in the crown of the arts of Southeast Ohio. They have an international profile while remaining true to their small town- Appalachian community. I am always impressed with their ability to pull-off world class exhibits that can be shared by our community in addition to the best art-based educational programming around.
