Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio is an American actor and film producer. He has been nominated for three Academy Awards and nine Golden Globe Awards. He won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in The Aviator (2004). Since the 2000s, DiCaprio has been nominated for awards for Catch Me If You Can (2002), Gangs of New York (2002), Blood Diamond (2006), The Departed (2006), Revolutionary Road (2008), Django Unchained (2012) and The Great Gatsby (2013).

A committed environmentalist, DiCaprio has received praise from environmental groups for his activism. Leonardo founded the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation. DiCaprio has made several films to educate the public about environmental issues, including 11th Hour. He also serves as the Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pacific Palisades-based Reef Check Foundation. He joined Al Gore at the 2007 Oscar ceremony to announce that the Oscars had incorporated environmentally intelligent practices throughout their planning and production processes.
